Yeah I think so, as he said "last season we stood up to teams like Barnsley" I think the whole thread is complementary, as most have been this season (when I could find them)
No they weren't. I made my comment before reading a few of their posts. Seemed to be unhappy with their players and lots of compliments about ours.
Funny though int it. 'expensively assembled squad' in this division 'skint, crap, teams like barnsley' in championship. You cant win☺ Kinda shows the massive gulf in divisions and the somewhat unfairness of the championship. Take Rotherham as a similar example to us, went down with a whimper, striaght back up then struggle again, mainly due to finances. But in the same division as QPR, a team thats broken FFP, been fined 40m and has more debt than an average third world country but still manage to loan in a couple of players that in todays transfer market could be worth about 20m. Just not fair.
We are the inbetweeners mate, and our owners remit is to re-establish us in the second tier. I say re-establish because we were once comfortable there, but football changed.
To be fair to them the penalty looked like an absolute shocker of a decision! Ironic after all the stone wallers we've been denied!
Don’t think it was a shocker their defender definitely caught Pinillos’s standing foot and tripped him. It was accidental but he did trip him. You can tell by how little protest there was from the Gills defence there was definite contact. That said I didn’t expect it to be given and would be miffed had it been given against us. But as you say we regularly get more stone walkers not given.
The first replay I saw I thought he'd been tripped. However the more I watch it, the flimsier it looks in my opinion.
Yeah I've had a look. 3rd most expensive in league one. Quite ironic that quite a few were signed from leagues one, two or Scotland whilst we were still in the championship. Sunderlands is valued at 3 times more, and Charlton are in 2nd place. Suppose it depends on if you see "expensively assembled" as remnant from playing at a higher level, or chucking money at it in the closed season. We've definitely got better players, although some thought not and predicted us to go straight through to league 2.
Yes, we've sold a lot of players for good money over recent years, which has allowed us to keep this squad together & add a couple too. I've been predicting top six before the season started & feel that is where we will finish. Top two is going to either rely on us not getting injuries to key players, a vast improvement in other squad players & maybe one or two in January, especially if we lose Dougall for a month. Big points total will be needed for top 2.
