I am unhappy that we don’t have a moat patrolled by mini submarines operated by teeny tiny donkeys. Also the lack of a vegetable patch in the West stand upsets the feng shui. Thinking about it we all must agree that not having a tiger to provide half time cuddles is a massive oversight.
I don't detest anything about my Club. In fact being from a small provincial town and repeatedly defying the odds against the clubs with more cash and resources has always held an affectionate appeal. I have relished the occasions where we have overturned all predictions and given one of the "big boys" a bloodied nose. In the main, I feel we are widely perceived by a number of supporters of other teams as a down to earth honest Club who despite the lack of cash, have managed to clock up more seasons in the second tier than any other Club in the country. During our one and only season in the Premiership, " Battling Barnsley" were regarded by many as their second Club. We are not able to judge why Patrick Cryne ran the Club the way he did, because we are not party to the full facts. Suffice it to say, with any degree of certainty is that for whatever reason with the resources he had at his disposal he genuinely had the best interests of Barnsley folk and their football team at heart and for that, I like many will remain eternally grateful for that.
Saturday it was about two minutes late kicking off. Wimbledon game was nearer five past. Rarer than you think us having a 3 o clock kick off.
Whinging moaners who post on here, who know more about tactics than the coaching team, have more business acumen than the owners, directors and people employed to do that job, who are good at spending other people's money, the like of which they will never possess....as well as the mindless teenage pillocks making a nuisance of themselves at Bradford Interchange - when people were just trying to get home and go about their own business...
I detest all the negative folk who constantly criticise players and pretty much all aspects of the club. best we have had it in years and people still moan. anyone would have thought we lost on saturday.
Not a great business model though is it? Ticket prices are one of the many things I do detest about football though.
Just a thought regarding West stand lower tier if the club gave 2 free tickets to every child at a specific school per home game rotating school to school match to match then potentially you have a additional 1000+ ppl of those how many would natter to there parents from something from the club shop ie kit etc etc build up a young fan base. I just had my son's birthday party at oakwell on a match day 10 kids and of those out of there own choice 2 had new full barnsley kits so from me having a party to which I paid. Club make additional money from other avenues.
You perceive the club to be totally opposite of how I see it. But in saying that - you are probably in the majority.
Nothing at all. Wish i could go more but work and being a dad affects my travel. Living 100 mile away doesnt help.COYR
My grandson had a free season ticket up to the age of 12 & now he is 15 & well & truly hooked , free tickets were available for a long time .
So how do you see it then ?, bearing in mind the theme for the thread was " what do you detest about our club "
Masochistic perhaps, but would also like to know. Though I've got a fairly good idea having read his posts for over 10 years, would still like to see a Nudger manifesto in all its glory.
