http://www.skysports.com/football/n...come-feeder-clubs-for-premier-league-big-boys There’s so much wrong with this thinking I don’t know where to start.
I've often thought one soloution to all this could be to ban loans. Then players would make the way up the system rather than all those who slide down the system.
......or the premier league clubs could be restricted from “stockpiling” young players as he calls it in the first place, but no, rather than inconvenience those clubs let’s find a way to pass the problem on to the lower league clubs.
Stop the greedy ******** stealing talent for peanuts and stockpiling it. Theres plenty of room for young talent to shine - its called the EFL and it worked just fine until the greedy few took control.
Agree. He kind of states the problem in the report, that the PL clubs stockpile younger players. Therein lies the issue. They can afford to stockpile because of the money coming in. It's not a lower league club issue if highly paid young PL squad players can't get a game, the players (and arguably their agents too) have a choice - take the money and go stake in the u23's or whatever or move clubs if they want proper first team football. Banning loans is an interesting one, can see the logic.
Another one that thinks football was built as a business not for fans. Set up a reserve league if they want in the old format of central league. . EFL Stop pacifying the premier. As in carabao.
I think the greed of the top tier is slowly trickling down and even looking at us in the third tier we've got quite a few overseas players that could have arguably been sourced within a pool of British players- problem is those kinds of players are 4th or 5th in line for their position at a Premier League or even Championship club and too many of those players are happy to take a wage and not play. That's not new though, looking back to players of ours like like Krizan, Bosancic, Rigters, Ten Heuvel etc... top clubs are forcing 2nd or 3rd tier teams to look overseas to plug the gap for players that aren't even that good, whereas in the past buying young British talent was affordable and available. Only way I can see it changing is by restricting squad sizes, limiting number of overseas players in starting XI's etc.
They don't need to limit the he number of overseas players. That isn't the problem at all, the problem is simply all the good young players are rotting in Premier teams reserves because they were greedy and took an instant pay rise over a career.
I think you'll be in a very small minority if you believe that Premier League clubs playing established foreign players over young British players is not significantly contributing to the problem.
That's because sky sports have groomed us to believe that you HAVE to play in their Premier league to play for England. Why? If the championship was populated by the best English players why would that be different to the Premier league being populated by them? Is it because if the name above the tunnel says Rotherham then it instantly makes a 30 yard screamer less impressive than if the tunnel said Manchester United above it?
Well we could field a team full of second and third tier Englishmen but do you reckon they'll be able to compete with likes of Brazil, Spain etc.?!
You are missing my point completely What makes the premiership the best league? The players in it? If those players are mainly foreign as we are led to believe then what is the difference between the English players playing in the championship now or in the premier league after foreigners are banned?
Trouble is Premier is relatively untouchable due to the money they command. They have often threatened to separate into a European league to quieten the FA down(if they broke away, wouldn’t come under FA duristriction and as such FA would get no money from them,).
Im not missing your point at all, I just don't agree with it. The premier league is buying up young players and stifling their opportunities to develop. If you send them on loan then they're regularly playing against second tier teams whereas the entire Spain and Brazil squads for example are playing in the top leagues against the best players in the world, are mostly involved in champions league football etc. Can you not see how by giving space to their top players it is restricting our own?
I'll ask again. Would the best English players playing in a league with few foreigners be any different if that league was called Premier league or championship? You appear to be hung up on the fact it HAS to be called the Premier league and HAS to feature famous named clubs because it is what sky has groomed you to believe.
Where have I said it has to be called that?!? Im chuffed for likes of Maguire playing despite not playing for a top 6 club. Please dont put words into my mouth, I'm not even a Sky subscriber so not sure how they've "groomed me" as you say. And Im not saying few foreigners, I'm saying not as many perhaps as we have now. A rule where perhaps at least 3 of the XI starting are English, for instance. I'm talking TIERED football. I dont care what it is called. The best English players should be playing in the TOP tier and against the BEST teams in Europe for us to be successful in world football. Just as other national teams have flooded the best leagues in Europe. You seem to think if a player is scoring from 30 yards against Rotherham it doesn't matter, that's fine for our players and the Premier League is just a title or something that's not important because we're brainwashed into believing that it is much better or something. The reality is that it does matter and it is important... the quality of opposition is not as good. What may get past Davies may not get past De Gea or Ederson.
Agree mate . Often thought get on with it instead of threatening. Would think the attraction for those that travel away would. 1 get bored of travelling and 2. Too expensive to keep up meaning **** atmosphere. Gimme barnsley v pigs blunts scum. anyday over European teams. I suspect most fans even in premier would choose games over near rivals. If not. well sod em. Also once left. No coming back.
Here’s a thought why don’t they bring their own fkn youngsters on, its also the reason we need to get back in the Championship ASAP
I hate the premier league and haven't had Sky Sports for over fifteen years so I am never going to defend either but at international level if our national team is to be competitive against the best teams in the world they must have players who are playing against the best players in the world every week which only happens in the premier league. I can't think of one top class national side who have a team made up from players not playing for a top flight club side.
