Nudge, how does any of that article make Leeds anything but a bigger club with better prospects? Whether he was pushed or not, they still are and were then. You just love to have something to moan about. And where does it say that Ganaye signed the players he didn’t know about? Or that he did anything to push PH out? There is nothing at all to suggest any of it was done by GG. The club has got plenty wrong in the past. This year a lot seems to be on the path to being righted. Give over with your negativity; mistakes were made, but let’s look forward. The club is.
Yep, a year when Cryne was terminally ill. I think most people could undertstand if his priorities changed a bit.
I’ll put you down as one of those people who thought Hecky had joined Leeds because he couldn’t resist the lure of the club he’d hated since he was a child. Jeez !!!
By every measure you could think up Leeds are a bigger club with more prospects, get a grip man. I’d like to think that what happened was that Barnsley knew Leeds were coming for him and so offered him a new contract and Hecky bit their hand off because he thought he was for the sack. That would mean we mugged them both off. The next best scenario is that Hecky did a Stonsie and him and the club conspired to mug Leeds off. Either way there is no coincidence that he signed a contract just before Leeds came knocking.
I've hated Leeds since I was a child but if they offered to fill my bank account with money I wouldn't be able to resist.
For Christ sake !!!! Hecky wasn’t signing the players. And now you are saying Ganaye the CEO wasn’t signing the players. Then who the foooking hell was signing the players !!!!?!?!?!!! Are you living in a parallel universe???
Hecky left the club just after saying ‘there are exciting times ahead with these new owners’. One of the richest consortiums in the whole of the football league takes over at Barnsley - and the manager of the club, who is also a fan, decides that this is the time to jump ship. AND STILL some on here believe Hecky left because Leeds United, the club who hire and fire managers at the drop of a hat, are a better prospect. Jeeez !!! Unbelievable
I remember thinking he seemed totally underwhelmed despite us being taken over by the new consortium. And he always used the new prospect of the club impersonally, “exciting times for the club” not”exciting times for me as the head coach of the club.”
It’s weird. It’s almost as if he was saying things that fans wanted to hear? SHOCK (just for you as you clearly love caps).
Yes I thought the same. And I said then that something was wrong. And now we know. The CEO was bypassing him with regard to bringing players in. A lot can be understood in what is NOT said.
I really don't get why you think it is unbelievable. Every manager will think they have the skills to be the one that makes a success if it. And the person who finally makes a success of Leeds becomes a BIG name. There is no way on earth that any manager, any human being who believes in themselves, when Leeds United come knocking, says "No thank you. I'll stick to Barnsley. I don't think I am up to it". If you believe otherwise then that, frankly, is unbelievable.
I can’t understand why you, or any other Barnsley fan, has such a high opinion of Leeds United ??? Especially when you look at their recent history when they have become a joke of a club.
They are a joke of a club but they are a bigger club in terms of revenue and fanbase. Get over it! There are at least 30+ other teams that are bigger than us too.
A manager who is also a fan - has new owners worth £££BILLIONS ........... but then decides to join a joke of a club. And some on here ......... still think, even after the manager has given reasons why he left....... that he left because the joke club had better employment prospects. Tha just couldn’t make it up.
Clarke went to Leeds, Wilson went to Wednesday, ‘‘twas ever thus. Not sure what Nudger thinks a team which gets 11k home gates can do to stop managers leaving for teams with 25k home gates.
I don't have a high opinion of them. I think they are a horrible club. But to not be able to acknowledge that they are a big club is just denying facts. There may well have been many problems at Barnsley at the time and everything the guy says may well be true. I don't know and don't really care - its ancient history and I am only interested in looking forward. But the fact remains that even if he were happy as Larry at Barnsley, if Leeds rung up and offered him the chance to get rich quick and make a name for himself as a really big name manager, he would be distinctly odd or very lacking in self belief to turn it down.
