I’m a bit young to remember Clough but am I right in thinking Clough was a bit of a different kettle of fish, a bit like Fergie at Man Utd, could say / do anything & the board would back them over the player. Anyone with a brain cell could figure out that Heckingbottom didn’t want Stevie Mallan for example when a few days earlier he was saying we’d got too many number 10’s & then Mallan walked through the door but he can’t come out & say that to the press.
I can't disagree with you. I think he'd be lucky to get a job in the football league as a manager. More likely to go back to a back room role at a bigger club.
Not saying Hecky is snow white... But a lot of the things he saying now are what some of us were saying 18 months ago are true.. And were told we were anti the club for not believing the official line..
He is free to say what he wants. He is not doing himself any favours though. I agree what he talks about has a ring of truth to it. I really don't care as I think Stendel is ten times the coach he is. I couldn't see Hecky playing academy players and getting the results Stendel is. Good luck to him. Time moves on.
What the hells happening here ?!?!? Can we get away from discussing small details such as where the best position for Hourihane and concentrate on the main gist of the article. 1) In December 2016 we were one point off the Championship playoff place and were on a roll. A couple of new players in the January 2017 window and IMO we would have got promotion. Instead EIGHT of the first team was put up for sale. I said on here in January 2017 that what was happening could result in us relegated the following season - and as per, I was laughed at. 2) During the 2017 summer transfer window Hecky was excluded from having input in the appointment of new players. We can assume that the CEO was excluding him. Heckys comments on Radio Sheffield reinforces that fact eg when Hecky said about recruitment ‘those involved need to get a move on because we need more players’. The recruitment by the CEO resulted in an extremely unbalanced squad. Shed load of midfielders were recruited with very few experienced strikers and wingers. I warned about this. But got the usual comments - including the 5 goalkeepers comment. I’ve nothing against Ganaye personally - however, it was clearly plain to see that Ganaye was manoeuvring Hecky out of the building. He couldn’t do it out right - because he knew Hecky was a favourite amongst many of the fans. I’ll go as far as to say that Ganaye knew that Hecky was going to another club in the near future so he got him to sign a contract knowing that Barnsley would then have to be compensated. Hecky was stitched up by Barnsley - I guessed that he had been - the article proves that he was.
Why not? So that people can continue to pretend and act like Patrick was some sort of faultless saint?
But he went to a club who had a recruitment team who openly recruit players for the head coach and the head coaches have no say. (Not sure if that's changed now with bielsa) all very strange to me. Of course they could be another reason why he has changed his tune
Reading between the lines i think he wants another shot at management and all that is on offer is Royston dynamos under 13s.
I think Hourihane is better as a CM with someone defensive at the side of him. Great Box to box, but with a focus on attacking. You?
Putting everything else to one side, the thing that gets me is idea that we would have got promoted or reached the play-offs in 2016/17 had we not sold players in January. My opinion is that we would have finished 10th at the very highest. A good side getting some good results - yes , a side capable of reaching the play-offs - No.
Why should I have something against someone I don’t know FFS. My view of Ganaye has been formed in what has and has not been said by Hecky. You could describe that as - in support of Hecky.
I would question this Runner^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The if clubs priority is entertainment.. then why would it follow the .. go with yoof .. experiment. If the fans were No1 they'd give us the best possible line up, right.. within the clubs budget of course. Do you think our club knows something the other 91 clubs don't. Do you think we have discovered a magic formula that allows us to pay peanuts and get excellent entertainment ? Ask most of who went on Saturday to Fleetwood... even tho we won, the football and the game was awful
I believe the Barnsley side of 2016 / 2017 took the division by storm. Only to be dismantled in 01/17. But worse than that - this article reveals why Hecky left. And that reason is because he had been excluded from player recruitment by the CEO. There is no way of getting around that fact.
