As far as I know - he didn’t apply. But Nottingham Forest Sunderland Leeds United were interested enough[/QUOTE] I heard his agent put his name in the hat like he did with forest Sunderland and Leeds. I know Leeds fans who hated his negative tactics. It made me laugh people on here used to say his favoured formation was 442 he played that ONCE at leeds. It speaks volumes bielsa only started 2 players who weren't avalible to hecky beat stoke and had a great start to the season with that 11.
Let me get this straight. Hecky failed badly at Leeds because he didn't feel loved? It wasn't because he didn't win football matches. It was because he was from Barnsley. Do you really have such an inferiority complex because of your home town?
It would only have been a £1.5 million gamble to get into the top six if we hadn't sold them. Bruce has gone on record that Villa only paid £1 million for Hourihane, it's well documented that we only got £500,000 for Winnall and we would have got the fee for Bree anyway as he was under 24. The fourth player was Morsy, who wasn't ours anyway. We missed out on nailing him down though, which appears to have been Linton Brown's fault.
Not my views. Just read their message boards BEFORE he had actually taken his first match. PS - put thi sen art a bit and do some research .
I live in West Yorkshire, so I possibly know more leeds fans than you, and you're wrong. There is a bit of banter, but nothing more, in fact a few have been complementary of our start to the season, interested in Mowatts progress and asked me about how Steve Croft was after last weekend. If you have mates that are leeds fans and they talk down to you and feed your complex, I'd suggest getting different mates.
Agree. It’s nuanced, balanced and looks beneath the surface of the headlines and shows that not everything is a black and white / right & wrong issue. I can see why it gets denigrated by some of the celebrities on here.
What would you say if we took on a manager that didn't win football matches? Would you welcome him with open arms? You twit.
You have a very interesting definition of the word 'research'. You overestimate how much normal people care about where anyone is from. Most sensible, reasonable people don't give a single thought to where anybody is from. You seem unable to see past that for some reason.
Ooof! He was a dour man. Can remember when he first took over. We won away at Rushden and in his interview he played it down so much, you'd have thought we'd lost.
What a load of cack. Worked in Sheffield all my life and most NORMAL people don't give a toss where anyone is from. There are low life's in every town and you've probably only met this type of misguided person. Inferior in every way you say? Then why is David Hirst (From Barnsley) treated like a God in S6.
Allardyce also understated the fee for Vaz Te, and Moyes understated the fee for Stones. And we wouldn't have gotten approximately £3-4m for Bree at tribunal. Completely agree about the tenure of Brown. I think that was a critical period where contracts weren't renewed, signings didn't materialise and the fall out afterwards when the ex coach was doing everything (though he seems to have forgotten about that since). I just don't think he had the detail. Selling standard commercial deals to absolutely all and sundry irrespective of fit is very different to complex player negotiations and signings. I think of many mistakes, that was maybe the biggest, and it sails under the radar largely.
Phew, that's the best endorsement I can receive that there must have been some sense and balance to what I posted ;-)
