He didn’t win matches because he never got the respect from the players.
That’s happened with other managers at Leeds.
In fact they made a film about it.

And many of the fans hated him before a ball was kicked - if yer read their message boards at that time you would realise this.

 

I don’t think there was any big conspiracy at Leeds, it’s pretty typical stuff. Side loses a couple of games & the play offs look out of reach so the team loses focus & everyone starts thinking about next season.

Sides still in the promotion hunt & battling relegation are still full of motivation where as mid table sides with nothing to play for aren’t.

According to the club Hecky's contract had been signed well in advance of when the announcement of his new deal was made. If that was true, maybe he hadn't "reached the point" at that time where he wanted out.

 

Think it had been agreed a while but I think signed it in the week prior to it being announced.

 

Maybe hoping things would change with the new owners. Speaks volumes that he did a runner from them.

You've totally missed my point, which is, the leeds fans weren't convinced by him because they set him on despite him not winning football matches at Barnsley.

Comparing Hecky and Brian Cloughs situations is totally clutching at straws. Clough took over from Don Revie who the players had great affection for. What cups and medals do you think Hecky told the players to throw in the bin at his first training session.
