It says the offer ends midnight Friday so am I correct in assuming it would be full price to pay on the day?

No don’t think so, I think it only goes up two quid

    EDIT

Now I’ve said that I’m not actually sure. Surely they can’t charge £25 or whatever on the day?

Standard matchday pricing is £20-£25 for an Adult.

This is what I thought, seems a poor choice to me. Someone at work just asked me as he was going to go with his girlfriend but he is working sat am, so he doesn't want to commit to a ticket in case he can't get finished in time. Having told him it would go up to £20 + he said he wouldn't bother.

I've raised this issue many times before. There is no good reason on God's earth why they can't just extend the £10 offer to POTD. Plenty of folk make late decisions to go to the game - could be weather, other commitments, whether the missus is in a good mood....owt. Why come up with such a great offer, then cripple it on the day of the game?? Utterly bizarre business practice.

I'll pass that on thanks. Won't help as he won't know until about 8 or 9 in the morning if he's going to be able to go.

I agree that more than doubling it is excessive for this fixture but I actually agree with them having cheaper in advance tickets, by two or three quid or whatever.

If it was the same price on the day, folk wouldn’t buy them in advance, no point, and then there will be plenty who don’t bother on the day as they can’t be arsed or something came up.

By doing a cheaper offer with a cut off they make sure they sell in advance, making it better for planning stewarding and policing, catering etc, plus they are making sure folk attend too as there’s not too many folk would pay in advance and not come. It’s the hall of fame thing Saturday, it will be nice if more than normal were there.

They can’t please everybody, making it £10 in advance AND on the day would likely have led to much lower advance sales and lower takeup overall. It’s not the 70’s or 80’s, the club are duty bound by the strict conditions of safety certificates to have certain amounts of security depending on attendance. You can’t just have everyone rocking up on the day, there has to be some level of crowd prediction.

So to say there’s no good reason is hugely unfair. Having the price at that rate on the day would probably reduce the attendance rather than increase it.

Should just go up by the normal amount for me so 2 or 3 quid. But it's the club's policy to make and that's 2 who may have attended that won't now.

I didn't even know it was £10 until going onto the website to get the tickets. The early kick off had passed me by as well. This was always going to be my second match of the season.

Yeah there are good reasons for more expensive on the day (not double if that really is the case). The other is minimizing cash taken on the gates.

Is there a good reason for not allowing online print off yourself sales at 10 quid on the morning of the game?
Surely some seats could be set aside for this.

Only thing I can think is loading the sales into the POS devices/database assuming they are not real time, connected devices.

Perhaps the whole system is in need of upgrading. I can book tickets for a cinema on my phone and walk in straight away and show the email to be scanned.

So let me get this right , the club are willing to let people in at £10 , £5 and nominal sum of a pound ? And still folk find something to moan about ? Have a word with yourselves . If pay on the day goes up to the usual price so what ? Book online have tickets delivered or pick up on the day at Oakwell or alternatively print your tickets at home . There’s always someone wanting to have a pop at the club , sometimes justified but on this occasion I fully support the club and if you don’t get a ticket before Friday teatime then it’s tough !

Not wanting to upset anyone but surely people must know if they can attend on the day or not UNLESS something crops up a day or so before ?

People have been given huge amounts of warning on this, very soon after it was announced it was on sky. I can understand moaning about the increase from potd, but frankly, it just gives people all the more reason to ensure you buy in advance.

There may be one or two people who cant make it for work or unsure, but generally, that shouldn't make up a big portion of fan base.

Exactly. It won't be many; just a handful of people/families who might decide on Saturday to give the kids a day out at the football, so of very little consequence to policing/stewarding/catering etc. That's how I started, back in 1972 - visiting my nan & grandad on Queens Drive. Nan suggested that Grandad take me to the football. He did and there began a long love affair. Of those few that might decide on the day, even if only a few then decide to go again, and again, and again, it's a job well done. Why rule out that possibility, no matter how small? Rose-tinted specs?? Maybe, but that walk up, pay on the day habit was how I first got into following tarn.
