Hourihane’s the best for us in my opinion.

Stones the best to play for us, just edging Trippier & Drinkwater a distant 3rd.

Most skilful’s an interesting one, people on here have said McCourt but he rarely did much except for a couple of wonder goals but Adam Hammill for example has scored the same types of goals as well as been able to contribute with other types of skill & has been much more effective with it.

So I’d say Hammill for most skilful.

If people just like stepovers, feints & going past players then Anderson Da Silva was able to do that better as well.

Sir Bobby. Rarely saw him have a bad game. Full back.. centre half. Midfield and yes goalkeeper. Made 2/3 world. Yes world class saves that day.

I thought Brek Shea beat him by a country mile , had to be dragged of pitch cheering with the fans

In my opinion Hourihane is comfortably ‘the best’ in terms of consistency.

Müller is up there though, he was unbelievable and streets ahead of any goalkeeper that I’ve seen represent the club between 1998-present.

In terms of raw ability then in my opinion Anderson de Silva, Diego León and Paddy McCourt are the best players from a technical point of view that I’ve seen in a Reds shirt since 2008. Unfortunately for us all three were exactly the right players but at the wrong time, for one reason or another.

I said Hourihane but i’d Forgotten about Hammill (shame on me). He is without doubt the single most influential player i’ve Seen in over 40 years. He was the greatest reason we were promoted from a League 1 last time. Not simply because of what he did himself on the pitch, but because of what he brought out of others. His passion, love for the Club and infectious commitment came at a time when others simply weren’t producing it. On top of all that he delivered some of the greatest moments and memories i’ve ever had as a Red. Adam Hammill, thank you.

Thanks. I take it you mean ‘mental’ in your people’s parlance.

Really? I don't want to be all 'holier than thou' but does someone's genuinely held and reasoned view merit being called 'mental'? You might not agree with it and I don't either but linking to 'mental', no, sorry not imho.

The weather on Thursday and Friday of last week was also mental or crazy, if you will. The Arctic Monkeys gig in Sheffield was mental as well; It’s a word used in common parlance and wasn’t used in the case above to insinuate that anyone was suffering from any mental health issues, more to convey my sense of disbelief at said statement.

To me it’s a bit mental as well. I love Hammill, I’d have given him another contract but he doesn’t compare to Redfearn for example

God forbid you use the word bonkers. People use their own spin to take a word to be offensive. When In reality most people knew you were not being offensive.

    Disco Devaney.

People have short memories, but his crosses and goals were sublime.

Hourihane by a mile, he just got better and better until he left us.

Also credible mention for Matty James, he looked 3 steps ahead of everyone on pitch. Barely ever lost ball and had he been here longer than 6 months he would dominated the championship

Hourihane for me, too. But with special mentions to Hammill & McCourt, as I love watching skilful players.
