15 games, 28 points. This is 1.86 points per game. SO if we maintain this this would see us end up with 85.86 points . so rounding that down to 85..... would that be enough for an automatic promotion place... it certainly would be good enough for a play off place I reckon. If we were to win our game in hand then it would be 89 points based on the maths of the situation.... 89 may well be good enough for automatic. So many variables though... injuries . suspensions.... the referees we get its gonna be a very intriguing season. The January window could be key this term.

It would be great to see the board make a positive impact and bolster our promotion push with a couple of strong signings in January. It would give the manager, players and fans a belief that the owners are here to push our club on.

agreed , but Portsmouth and Peterborough have yet to hit a bad patch really... I was hoping when we stuffed the 'Posh' that it may have begun theirs... but it did not really... Sunderland had a slow start but now seem to firing on all four.... we have had a few bad results , which may well be due to the experience and age of our squad... and yet we are still very much contenders. Again I say the January window is key... perhaps an older head to lead might be the way forward.

Have you applied this mathematical theory to Portsmouth, Peterborough and Sunderland?

How many points do they get?

So therefore we wouldn't on the face of it be automatically promoted at this rate.

    Obviously.

yes but that's just a maths stat... the human factor can never be added to that... suspensions, Injuries etc . Also the January window activities too. Like I said Portsmouth and Peterborough have as yet had no major wobbles .

Loosing them two games has let the rest of the pack close up so todays win was massive. That game in hand is still huge. Once we have played pompey and black cats we will have a much better idea of our standing in the league. Im still thinking us and donnie at Wembley......

85.86 is rounded upto 86, not down. 85.4 rounds down to 85.
