Disgusting and totally unacceptable. And it will get worse as on Sunday 11/11 they are at Livingston and do not hold your breath for the silence being respected. A truly horrible and disgusting club.
Some of those singing it will not even know why they are singing it. Furthermore some of the tossers will probably be descendants of people who lost their lives in the armed forces during the 1st and 2nd world wars. # Pathetic!
More to the point why does Celtic not take action over this? Obviously that club condones this behaviour.
Still the same - it says "Video Unavailable". Thanks for trying but I can guess the gist of what they were chanting so I don't need to hear it.
Ian do Celtic wear the poppy on their shirts ? Interested to know as I’m not sure if it’s just in England where they wear them on their kits . Can remember some controversy at Liverpool once albeit a small incident blown up by the press whereas some of their Irish Liverpool supporters tried to kick up a stink over the poppy but the Liverpool supporters turned on them . Can’t remember when this was tbh but can remember reading it in Mirror once .
sectarianism is a awful blight on Scottish Football and society. It's akin to two groups of children arguing, one group believes in Father Christmas and the other think he should be called Santa Claus. While the sensible look on and know it's a meaningless argument.
I've been working up here last few weeks I can tell you honestly they do know why they're singing it and that's the worrying part. I'm going to Parkhead Thursday night and after seeing these videos and how some of these guys conduct themselves I'm re-considering. Got talking to one and he told me whatever I do remove my poppy before I go.
Please take that advice seriously mate. The morons would have no hesitation in putting you in hospital for having the audacity of remembering our fallen. Makes me fkn sick.
Celtic do wear the poppy. I don't have a problem some players who prefer not to wear it on their shirt. Personal preference but its the utter disrespect of it that pisses me off. TBH I thought Celtic did not wear a poppy but on closer inspection I notice they have in the past.
Personally I can’t see the problem with the poppy tbh as it’s for remembering the person as far as I’m concerned not the actual conflict .
I agree with this I don't mind people who chose not to wear it now it represents every conflict the armed forces have been involved in. But total disrespected like this is disgusting. Like already said sectarianism is a blight on Scottish football. The chants and songs rangers and Celtic and other Scottish teams chose to sing have no place in football.
Celtic have been coming out with similar bile for years. We often hear about Rangers and Celtic being as bad as each other but for me, whilst noting the Rangers contributions to sectarianism, the poison Celtic often churn out is unrivalled. The last Old Firm game saw audible IRA songs for good amounts of time but no real reaction afterwards. Just seems the media like to play on the pro-British stuff Rangers bring out but largely ignore the Celtic stuff. I've always presumed it was because a lot of Celtic's sectarian stuff is hidden away in otherwise catchy and decent Irish folk songs and tunes, adapted by the fans. But the IRA stuff is as clear as day.
