I wouldn't say I was being arrogant because I don't want to watch us play some premier league youngsters. Some of them could be on more money than our own players.

I don't watch Barnsleys youngsters until they make it to the first team squad. It's just not my thing.

The point isn't about winning cups or arrogance. It's about something being fixed that was poor fayre, but not broken.

I fully agree with you about the presence of youth teams. It's disgusting. If I thought a boycott of the competition would work in removing them in the future I'd be all for it. Unfortunately football fans repeatedly demonstrate an unwillingness to do so.
The cases if Blackpool and Coventry would, you'd think, have their grounds completely empty every week until they'd got what they wanted. It hasn't happened.
British football fans seem to be incapable of uniting and flexing their muscle in the face of things they vehemently disagree with.
In the absence of the stomach to boycott it let's rather get to the final and, should there be a youth team facing us, put out a full strength and motivated team and smash them.

You don't know how many would go if an U23/21 team got there , that clubs supporters might fancy a trip to Wembley so it's anyone's guess how many would go.

Stuff it. I enjoyed the previous JPT games, even though they were a bit stress-free (even the final), but enough is enough.

Each to their own of course, but my dad always said that sheep were made to be fleeced.

Honest answer is I dont really know - I enjoyed our game against Oxford and the whole Wembley experience - I am sure if we are against another league club I would go but if its an U21 side Im really not sure. Im inclined to say no I wont go but if we really are there and playing in the final I dont really know if I would stick to that.
Doesnt alter the fact I totally disagree with the U21 sides taking part

We have no influence over those that set the rules so why all this anguish? I've said it before, often enough - I go to a football match involving Barnsley irrespective of who we are playing. I just want to see my team win, against anybody. I didn't make it last night but I'm going on Saturday and I will probably go next Tuesday as well. That's 200 miles-worth of travelling for so-called meaningless games.

It's everyone's choice whether to go or stay at home but I know for CERTAIN that if I lived in the town, or a bit nearer to it, I would be at every single fixture. I don't understand why some say "Yes, of course I'm a Barnsley fan" but then say they can't be bothered to go.

Seems very hypocritical to slag the competition off then all line up like sheep if we got to the final. The oxford one seemed justified as i went to the earlier rounds (hammills return and goal vs york). Ive no interest in it this season so would not go to final....

If someone I love smokes or drinks to excess I'm not going to validate their unhealthiness by supporting their decision.

If my football club are playing in a competition which puts their existence at stake - and the Checkatrade does - then I am not supporting them in it.

It is a small step from the Checkatrade to Everton Feti playing in League One, and a further small step to us becoming their feeder club.

I will not support something which means the death of my club.

I have done every league game, home and away, this season, plus Blackpool. So I say to you: "Yes, of course I'm a Barnsley fan," and my reasons for avoiding the Benson & Hedges, asbestos, vodka, red meat and radium of football are above.

I didn't go to the Final against Oxford, as I was convinced we would be in the Play-off Final. If we are going up automatically this season, I shall definitely go to the Final of the FLT if we reach it.

Oxford Wembley trip was a great day and if we reach the final against a proper team, I'll prob do it again, its a Final and in our history we dont get many. But not against U23s, I will not be there. Hopefgully it'll be academic, they're not doing too well, I dont anticipate an U23 club being in the final.

You're completely missing the point. I asked if people would attend the final IF WE PLAYED A PREMIER LEAGUE UNDER 23 TEAM.

I'll probably go against Bradford next week, and if we got to the final and played a club from league 1 or 2, I'd definitely go to the final.

Are you suggesting someones not a Barnsley fan because they don't want to watch friendlies or the reds fielding a weakened team U21/23 team?

That's very harsh considering some of us never miss a home or away match.

Given the attendance last night we have very few proper fans. Would have been even less had it not been cheap to attend.

I wonder how many of those proper fans who attended last night will be at Plymouth and Gillingham.

A couple of hundred quid of expense to sit in a quarter full stadium and watch a meaningless match? No ta.

Of course I’m not suggesting that. All I’m trying to say is that the opposition is not a factor when I choose to travel to a match or not. If it suits me on the day I will go. I’ve been one of the long distance travellers all my life. Now it’s only a hundred mile round trip. It has been over 400 miles.
My life choices apply to all of it - living, working or football. I’m not criticising anyone.

It's each to his/her own i can't understand why anyone else is bothered who attends which ever game or not. It's the individual's choice no one else's .
