He looks proper class from time to time, but has the knack of landing everyone in mortal danger by the sheer slackness of his passing or getting caught in possession at least 2 or 3 times a game. When he concedes he does it big style. Mallan got sent back to Scotland for what Bahre does 3 times a game. He might lead you to scoring as many as he leads you to concede. He has got a touch of summat else though.
A couple of weeks ago I started a thread where I said we were just not clicking especially in the final third. Since that post we have had a dip in performances. Behre is by far not the only one who gets some of those passes completely wrong.
Think he’s got the makings of a very good player. He’s only played about 30 professional games at 23 which probably explains his errors and decision making at times. Hopefully he’ll come on as the season develops and he grows into the team, culture and speed/style of League 1 and English football.
Tonight both Bahre & Moncur had on the whole really good games but also had a couple of moments each where they played their team into trouble. I think it’s just the types of players they are, might be a bit much playing 2 of this type in the same team but it makes it entertaining. There were some fella’s near me who spent most of the first half slating Bahre for reasons I couldn’t understand & then conceded he played well by the end.
I like him.....a lot and think we will see the best of him when he settles properly....new country and culture and all that....very tidy player. May even be back end of season or next year.
Think we judge players far too early. Given the time Mowatt and McGeehan have taken to hold down a place, you can never completely write players off. I'm as guilty as anyone in McGeehans case, but his performances in the absence of Dougal have been his best whilst at the club, and I think he'll get even better.
We might put Christoph Knasmullner into that category. He was never given a chance. Maybe he didn't do well enough in training to deserve one, or maybe he just decided early on that he didn't want to stay. His previous experience suggested that he could have been a good player though and maybe one more season would have seen him gently eased into the first team picture.
Probably a season to early for him. Coming to a struggling club in the Championship means players have to make an immediate case for themselves staying in the team. At this level, he could have been brilliant and then made the step up, as may one or two others. It's where the plan is fallible. Blooding lower league and little known foreign players seems to work at this level, but if it means keep having to drop down and start again, it's only fit for the purpose of making money. There has to be a balance.
