Article 50 got triggered months after the vote, and it could have been the queen negotiating, there was still all the crap going off over here so they did not have to give us anything, but like I said ,all stick together, tell them we were leaving and they would have crapped it.
They are not obligated to give us anything and it is in their best interests for us to walk away with next to nothing so that any other member state doesn't follow suit. They could've had the entire country behind it and it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.
Apparentl TechUK has supported it. Which was a surprise to the industry it represents... And some minister claimed 80% of the population supported it.
Do you in all honesty think they are not bothered if we leave and then loose all those billions and all our trade, then we go and get deals all around the world. And on top of that wondering if any other country is going to do the same.Your deluded if that is what you think.
If this is directed at my comment- of course I think they care. Do i think they want to risk giving us a good deal which could potentially lead to a collapse of the EU, though? No I don't. They have too much at stake and it is in their best interests to either give us the bare minimum or make it so unattractive we end up staying. They have nothing to gain whatsoever from giving us a good deal. They can survive without us. They hold all the cards whether we like it or not.
Free trade deals with non-EU countries will take many years to negotiate. They will involve in each case subjecting ourselves to rules and regulations on standards about which we will have limited say, given that we will be dealing with countries with bigger populations and GDP's than our own. Add in then the complexities of dealing with the maverick nature of Trump's America, the communist Chinese regime or the chaotic nature of trading with India including as it will necessarily do the granting of many, many more visas than we do now. All of that trade will involve more transport costs than we incur in trade with our nearest neighbours. The EU see the benefits of close co-operation, and will deem the sacrifice of free trading with the UK as worth the tradeoff in terms of keeping the European system of trade intact. It really is fantasyland to think that the EU (GDP $17 Trillion) will worry about free trade with the UK (GDP $2.5 Trillion) if the cost would be the sacrifice of the rules which uphold the single market and customs union. This is the fantasy that the brexiteers have constructed in the service of bigotry, nationalism and a totally fictitious ideal about our importance in the world. Things have moved on, and we need to get with a more global and inclusive way of doing business. Pretty much what we have at present, in fact. It's enough to make you weep.
No. Churton is right. These decisions should be left to our elected representatives in Parliament. It should be left to those MPs who have never had to pass a single exam, or turn up with any qualification whatsoever before they get elected. Then they excercise their right to decide for us. They know far more about these things. By virtue of their qualifications.
Mind you, come the revolution it will be the experts up against the wall no doubt as Michael Gove etc see no need of them. Bit like Cambodia under Pol Pot I would imagine.
Are you more qualified than the people elected to run the country then? The people whos job it is? What annoys me most about this sorry mess is that ive heard so many people and so many forms of the media saying that 'this isnt the brexit people voted for' or trying to guess at what terms people voted for. What utter ********. The vote was a simple in or out. It had no clauses or stipulations in it. It didn't say what form of brexit we wanted. The reason it didnt? Because none of us had a clue what we were voting for. Everyone guessed what it meant and what would happen and a hell of a lot of people who voted to leave guessed wrong in what it meant. The lack of education of the voters, the people allowed to make such an important and life changing irreversible decision were doing so blind. We relied on propoganda to make a decision and did so without actual facts or any reap ireap idea what a lesve vlesve vote meant and that is an utterly ******* stupid power to give the uneducated masses.
Yes, why let the people decide... should leave all the decisions to those halfwits in Whitehall. They all do their best to ensure that we are where we should be. Or maybe they could have made everyone go back to school for a gcse in the EU... I really can’t believe the stuff on here. Maybe we shouldn’t vote on things at all, as the powers that be know best?
WE elect them to make informed decisions on our behalf and to take guidance from experts in the relevant fields. Otherwise what's the point? We could all have a remote and vote on every decision required to run the country. Again.....the vast majority of the population, whether it be leave or remain voters did not have sufficient information to make a sensible decision. Again....if I have to have my tonsils out I'll nip down the hospital for it doing, not ask the bloke behind the counter in the paper shop.
