They are even showboating. Worse thing is both goals in open play followed decent spells of possession for us.
Scrap that. Brilliant last 5 or 10 before half time. Goal and hit post. Need a quick one after half time and it's game on again.
I think we looked the better team. However, they scored 4 and missed another 3 clear cut chances. We probably had 3 decent chances and scored 3. They deserved to win.
Yes they deserved the win....they out scored us and could have had a couple more. I do think we played more football....however as usual we are sporadic..with 20 mins here and there. We looked great at times.
Overall I thought we played very well. Full credit to the lads for coming back from 3 behind. At that point it looked very glum. Only difference between the 2 sides was Sunderland had that quality in the final third. Their 2nd and 3rd goals were real quality, and when they got chance they whipped the ball in quickly and could have had a few more. At 3-2 we were well in the game with plenty of time left and I really believed we would get a point, but the 4th goal killed us off. Good performance overall. Would have been good enough to see off most in this league.
Listening to DS's post match presser, "men vs boys" was a pretty good analogy of his assessment of the game. We matched them for skill & endeavour, but lacked the experience / gamesmanship of the opposition. First time I've heard him be slightly critical of our policy of only having young kids in the team. Makes me wonder if we add a more experienced player in January...
I think we have to supplement this with experience. I thought last night was possibly our best league display since Peterborough, but we left empty handed.
An experienced "old pro" would not only be helpful to the team on the pitch but would be able to pass on some knowledge of how to play in this league to DS as well!
