Hi Darfield, this is a place myself and Arabian Ian visited http://www.tullibardine.com/ Tried both the Sovereign and Sauternes...very nice
You seem to be a peoples person and i so far like what i've read, your obviously a very intelligent person, i thought at first you were a bullshitter we get so many on ere. Having read all your responses, i also thought that you worked with citizens advice, but your obviously above that level, and the three clues led me thinking that you were a bodyguard or somekind of close protection operator, and now I GIVE IN So my favorite game eva was my first but theres bin so many since i wouldnt say i had a fav, but my fav player was and so far still is RONNIE GLAVIN, my worst eva football experiance was back in early 80s at Huddersfield got beat up with wife and lost twins 6 months pregnant.I remember the old specials they were awsome. THE END
I love single malt. I've had to cut down recently but still keep a few bottles in the house. My current favourite is Dalmore 12. Singleton is very nice. Woodford Reserve is a very nice bourbon.
I was also at tht game, they won 1-0 set some kind of attendence record. Wish i had been able to step in fella, didnt even know. Yeah, I would always gravitate towards Glavin, with the one thought that Redders did it in the prem, 15 goals from midfield in a relugated side???? I've been out drinking (southern comfort) with redders and take it from me, he loves this club
Hi 138, like you I only joined recently after following the forum for some time, first game in 1970 but always find it difficult to pin down a favourite game as anytime we beat Leeds, Wendies or the other unmentionable Sheffield lot (especially away) ranks up there with the Wembley's and Play off finals. Not a spirits fan but working our way through the vast variety of current Gin products with great interest, not to mention the real ale ….also love the Fly fishing. Born so close to Oakwell it was one of the first things I saw every morning along with the winding gear at Barnsley Main, I also don't understand how ya can support anybody but ya home club, worked with a guy who was a Man Utd "Fan" but had never been to Old Trafford. !!!! So welcome and look forward to future discussions on many and varied topics....
Mate, Ive just re-read this. Please tell me your wife didnt lose her children after aggro at a footall match? That makes me feel sick to the stomach
Hello dar I can remember my first game my dad brought me into the old brewery stand sat me on the old red handrails as i can remember and the first thing i can remember is someone shouting curry your w**nk who then went on to score a couple or three always remember his long hair and the 3 blokes behind us saying shut up theirs a kid there and giving me some sweets wish i could remember who we played or attendance but its what you remember i suppsose ,also i can remember my dad lifting me over from brewery stand into ponte end so i could be with my mates good days anyway welcome .
I have a mate who lives round the corner from me, born in attercliffe, dad took him to wendies since he was five...no probs..that's proper. There's a special place in hell reserved for the people who buy a man utd shirt and a sky subscription.
I only remember cos everybody was a leeds fan. If my dad (who actually went to leeds sc*m) hadnt got some freebies from Eric, who knows...it was the mist over the brewery stand that did it LoL
Ha ha yep it always seemed like a mist ( think it was smoke from pipes and fags ) hadded to atmosphere though happy days
Hi Rob. Remember the old brewery stand. We was always west stand boys (ali gee would have give us a whole episode). On the whole I get a bit frustrated with the club......but who would have thought in 1973 with a gate of 2096 in the lowest league posssible, we'd have had a season in the prem, won at millenium, wembley twice, beaten man utd, spurs , liverpool etc..... yep you didnt dream that, it actually happened
I never said a bit of a hitman, that was somebody else. You've picked up on that and ru n with it. Fair enough. hate you'd just keep guessing...if you guess i'll fess up
Yes it all happened in Wellington Pub, feb 1980 we lost 1-0 but i did'nt see the game due to what happened. I av bin back since and met up wi many an old pal from my Army days the pubs still there today its still called the Wellington. I remember cos in them days nearlly all Huddersfield squaddies supported Leeds.
Welcome aboard Darfield 138 enjoy the board.... I dont get on here much these days due to work commitments.. But I can say one thing for sure... That there's some lovely people out there... Ive met a few over the years... Some most recently .. So enjoy.. post to your hearts content and help keep up the community the banter and friendship that can be found on here... Its a lovely little place to be part off.
Are you seriously saying that you and your wife were attacked before a match and she lost twins as a result? Wow. I assume you mean she was 6 months pregnant. I've never heard that story. It must have been national news. So who went to prison for it and for how long?
