Didnt Castro when he seized power remove the influences of American companies from Cuba including those run by the mob?

Talking about millionaires. Remind me, what was Castros net worth when he died. Same with his ilk..

my main problem is that the eu parliament was thrust upon us without no say from the people of the individual nations,in 1975 there were accusations (particularly from labour supporters ) that the common market would eventually lead to a eu superstate and political union, the accusers were ridiculed much in the same way as farage was when he spoke about a eu army, they were called scaremongers..the 75 referendum was to remain or leave a common trading bloc not a political union.

democratically i do not agree with any foreign politician having the power to make decisions that affect or on behalf of this country(neither do i agree with our politicians having the power to make decisions on behalf of for example greece or germany),i am totally against the european parliament,we should not need to be in a political union to trade freely with europe ,as was the case long before the variouis treaties were dreamed up.I think the goal of the eu is more centralised power and from my point of view theres been enough gone off over the last 25 years to say that this will more than likely be the case

i believe that we do not need to be in this union to prosper and as far as i'm aware our exports to the eu are falling whilst those to the rest of the world are increasing

I see the the eu as nothing but a capitalist club set up by multinational companies and financial institutions to look after and try to ring fence some of their interests.

economically i cannot see how 28 members all with different financial clout can work together, why we need to be in a bloc with some of the poorer countries is beyond me,especially some of the southern countries,i think in the long run this arrangement with cost us, as tax payers more and more

contrary to the rose tinted europhiles i believe whole heartedly that the eu is anti nationalisation and would make things very difficult should we ever have anyone in power with the balls to go forward with any such ideas

finally,'the free movement of people' , i think from a security point of view this is a disaster, Us and the rest of the europe have no idea who is amongst us.. (i have no problem with either refugees if they are genuine or indeed with folk coming to work here,if the ending of free movement means people having to get visas to work then so be it,if we need the skills then i'm sure the relevant folk will be welcomed)..btw if anyone is going to start arguing on this point then dont bother,i'm well aware others have different views and we'll only be running round the same points as we've always done

A good broad range of answers and a lot of different views
If we had a second referendum and remain got 52 per cent and Leave 48 per cent
    A reverse of first
Would that mean best of three
The country would be split just as before???

The difference being that in the EEC referendum in 1975, nobody reneged on their promise to respect the result and carry it through.

I also read somewhere?? (legitimate source) that one of the future ambitions of the EU commission was to effectively remove the single member state veto and move to majority voting. That, for me, has alarm bells ringing!!

Although this probably won’t be of any interest to ardent remainers. Here’s a video of last night Leave Means Leave Rally.

Another brexiteer rumour! Haven't we had enough of this? Go paint on a bus.

Sick of bullying brexiteers banging the drum for Tory grandees to give them power to take away worker's and human rights.

Yes 17.5 million voted for Brexit, so the other 17 million can go f*** themselves. Remainers have a right to their opinion as well and I said that what was beneath the leave vote was bigotry and I still think so.

You're right, it's of no interest whatsoever.

tbh I really think that no deal isn't an option, if we said to them, you are patently not being fair so fk it we are off, they would suddenly find that there are other options, its a lot of money to them to watch go ta ta's and there are a lot of companies in europe, like the German motor trade pushing for a deal.

In what way are they not being fair? We knew perfectly well what their red lines were. It's not their fault that our politicians have spent two years pretending that they can be brushed under the carpet.

What exactly would you like to see included in the deal?

just posted an opinion, not even trying to argue it because if these threads have proven anything its a waste of time.
I did vote to remain but equally I do think the EU organisation is one of the most morally bankrupt organisations I have known

Then why did we have another in 2015?
If the referendums are binary then that 1975 one should still stand .
No good asking us to abide by referendum when we havnt stood by the original .

Really? Just one of many reports https://euobserver.com/institutional/139630

As for bullying Brexiteers, I agree remainers have a right to an opinion but accusing of bigotry just because you disagree is not really any different is it!

we would still have to pay even if there was a no deal, the government would be hauled up in court the next day and swiftly told to sort ourself out.

Not a rumour. Read the Lisbon Treaty and what will come into effect in 2022.

I am pretty sure at the start of all this the courts determined there was no legal liability. Morally fulfilling previous obligations for the current agreed EU budget period is another matter though, and I agree that we cannot/should not just walk away

That’s what I’m talking about, there is no way on earth in the very unlikely event of a no deal we wouldn’t pay what we already owe. The gammon may froth at the mouth at that but it’s simple really.
