Feel for him as both those 2 center backs today played really well again. I thought Lindsay had his best game for a long time 2 clean sheets on the bounce but v pompey Jackson did little wrong either. 3 decent center backs at the club imo.

He will be alright when he runs his contract down and gets a big fat signing on fee next summer when he joins a club that will give him regular first team football.

This is where the club should intervene, show some intuition and offer an improved contract

Why would he sign it? Must be demoralising being sat on a bench all the time and he doesn't strike me as the type who'd sign a new contract with us to keep being a back up.

I'm sure he doesn't want to sit on the bench. I thought it was harsh to drop him.after pompey but 2 clean sheets in 2 so can't complain.

I don't know what you do for a living, but, wouldn't you feel an awful lot more wanted, if your employer offered you an improved contract?

Football is different to anything else. I would hope most football players realise how lucky they are to do what they do and therefore want to play as much as possible. I'd love for him to sign a new contract but I can't see it.

No it is not.. Life is full of ifs and buts. The club should be looking for a strategy - if that involves having three centre halves that are good enough for the first team but only two are chosen, then the strategy may well be to have a third centre half in reserve on a good wage.......so be it. This may well be one of any number of variables in this .... please don't ask me to explain bi-variate or even multivariate distribution theory at this time of night!

We've only got 3 centre halves. He's never far from a call up due to injury or dip in form.

Besides that, club pays his wages when he's injured and unavailable for selection, so works both ways.

I'd be looking to move him on.. bring in another who is actually good enough to take the shirt off the current two.. not good enough if we go up imo..

Lindsay had a silly ten minutes first haif where he hed a oyl in his leg and booits ont wrong feet. Both looked better today cos with Doogs back we limited them to very little.

I rate Adam Jackson, think he would be a top end L1 defender. Similar to Matty Pearson is performing at Luton, but not as versatile. I would say it’s close between all 3 of them, and all are still learning. Pinnock is only in his second season out of non league, so his progression is the most impressive.

Unless we can sign a really top end centre back to partner Pinnock, with Lindsey as cover, then there’s no way I would let Jackson leave. He’s only 24, with 70 odd games at this level or higher. I think there’s still room for him to improve and be a solid championship CB.

If the name of the game is to improve as a club. Then you need to improve the squad. That is done by moving on anyone who is not in the first team, for someone who will be... Better players. Slowly but surely lift the club.

Sorry but Lindsey was slack yesterday miss kicking the ball and poor passing that nearly cost Dougall a red card

Lindsay almost got Dougall sent off and made a mistake that almost cost us a goal. He’s still young and learning but you can guarantee he’ll make a couple of mistakes a game. Those mistakes will be punished in the championship but we are currently getting away with it in league 1.

Honestly thought that’s one of worst performances I’ve seen Lindsay have. Shocking pass that should’ve got Dougall sent off & completely misjudged the bounce of balls a couple of times. Normally quite a composed player but wasn’t yesterday & I rate him.

I think Jackson just has to deal with it, he’s behind two centre backs who are a fair bit better than him in my opinion. He’s a decent enough player but it’s just the way it is.

I hope he stays because I think he’s good back up but I’d understand if he decided he wanted first team football.

Not a patch on roberts or mawson Lindsey. To say it's League one standard he's making the same mistakes weekly by playing poor passes out from the back and putting us in trouble. If in doubt clear it long.
