Having seen today's bench, I hope we are doing some early business in this window. Hopefully we have players lined up in case anyone goes, but also to increase the competition for places. The only decision today was which midfielder made way for Kenny Side picked itself based on players available. The successful sides always strengthen whilst doing well It's easier to attract players as opposed to a relegation scrap. Also means we have ready made replacements should the worst happen and we lose anyone.
I don’t think we will. Unless we lose any players. Think a few may be disappointed if they are expecting us to sign a few players.
I think we need to bring in another striker to put Moore and Woodrow under pressure and also have that option to bring on as sub.
I think they are out there. Maybe not in the uk, but if coming from abroad, then even more reason to bring them in early Get them used to the surroundings, club & staff.
I'm worried that Moore will leave as I expected him to at least have been on the bench today, I thought with the photos and his attendance at the ground previously he was not that ill. I want to see Moore, Bahre and Woodrow in the same team with Mowatt and Dougall behind them leaving Mcgheehan, Potts, Thiam fighting for the last place in the team which in turn with the 2 that misses out adds to make a strong bench. Moncur must be leaving which must have something to do with why brown hedges and Vic are now used as subs before him. I hope Jackson stays, if we keep all and add a replacement for Moncur, striker cover for Moore and Woodrow and back up to push Cavare I bet that team is not far off and if it stays together it should be good enough for mid table championship as they will keep improving from where they are now. So 3 decent new additions. Moncur who I rate leaves and let Vic, Bird, J Williams, Isgrove out on loan for game time and fitness then this team will be unstoppable this season and ready for promotion without needing major surgery for next year in the Championship. The new owners could really nail this for us if they don't let Moore and Pinnock leave and bring in squad improvements quickly.
I don't think the side picks itself. Jackson came in a couple of weeks ago and did a good job. I think he offers a very good alternative to either centre half, not just back-up if either are injured, and keeps them both on their toes. I'd be happy to see Brown given a run of games on the right wing. Bahre can consider himself unlucky not to be in the team after his performance on Saturday. I haven't been his greatest fan so far but he's definitely improving and beginning to show why Stendel was keen to sign him. I still don't think Potts is much of a winger and does all his best work when he moves into the centre. I reckon him Mowatt and Dougall would be equally as good if not a great deal better than McGeehan, Mowatt and Dougall. Then there's Moore to come back in. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to strengthen. I'm still not convinced by our full backs, they have good attributes but also a number of flaws and I'm not sure the former outweigh the latter. I'd also like to see a naturally left sided player with pace, stamina and determination and another striker. There's also maybe room for another midfield player who can tackle. But we do have plenty of options as it is and if we don't sell I don't think it's that big a deal if we don't bring anyone in.
Says in Friday's Chronicle, that we are hoping to conduct any business early in the window. We are braced for bids for several players including Moore and Pinnock who have admirers in the Championship, but both of them and most of the others have more than a year left on their contracts. Our Chief Exec Gauthier Garnier has said that " only a big bid from a big, big Club would persuade us to sell players who could be crucial in the promotion challenge." He also said that we have drawn up a list of players to bring in as replacements should any star player leave. The more likely players to go are those out of contract at the end of the season and have refused new contracts such as Moncur, Jackson and Hedges. Moncur is apparently interesting Portsmouth. He also confirmed that Lloyd Isgrove who is one of our top earners could also leave. For his part Herr Stendel says he thinks the present squad is good enough for promotion and is hoping we only need to make minor alterations.
A left wing back who can defend would also not go amiss. With Pinillos's injury record, we look a bit thin there.
Wouldn't be surprised to see fryers leave. Doesnt look like Stendel rates him as he chose Williams before him v Luton and I imagine he will be a decent earner.
That's the impression I get. There's a player in there somewhere with Fryers. Sadly, I'm not sure whether it will ever be unlocked.
