Makes sense imo Mega rich owners won’t be dismantling a team for a few mil when the player is on long term contract . Mind it’s funny reading some as they spontaneously combust lol
This is why we need a decent squad. I guess the lad styles can come back, but not sure whether he can fill Pottsies boots. Get our own players in early "just in case" we do receive a stupid offer on someone. By leaving ourselves thin on first team quality It means there will be melt downs as there are no viable alternatives that we can see within the current squad who are fit at least.
So... a rumour emerges and everyone assumes he's going for tuppence. He may well go, his replacement may well be much better. There's been no comment from the club so it's potentially the opening gambit. The media are often used to unsettle a player, look at the Yiadom fiasco. Let's be patient (good god I know, like that's going to happen) and see what materialises. Bradshaw was replaced by a far better player. So even if Potts does go, it doesn't mean it will be either under valued or inadequately replaced.
Glad clubs want our players - shows we’re doing well and have decent players. I’m not surprised clubs want Potts. He’s a really good player having a good season. The board won’t sell unless an offer really good comes in. And if that happens I think we’ll have quality players lined up. It was only a few months ago certain people said we didn’t have any saleable assets. Now there’s a panic about Pinnock, Lindsey, Dougall, Potts, Mowatt, Woodrow Moore and probably others having clubs interested. Let’s wait and see what happens.
How can some fans immediately slag the club off when another club bids for one of our players? I'd rather we had a crop of young, hungry, talented players who are in-demand by other clubs than go back to the days of Paul Gibbs and Tony Vaughan. The club have got good deals for the majority of our players ever since Don Rowing stepped down, they've also admitted that letting contracts run down has cost us in the past and they won't let that happen again. Therefore, if we're willing to let Moore, Potts, Pinnock etc leave then it's probably an indication that the player is intending to leave...not that Barnsley want them to leave for peanuts. When that happens, you cash in whilst they have a good value and reinvest the money in the next crop of talented players.
£5m should be our red line. Any of those daft ******* Championship clubs chasing the promised land can find it or **** off.
Potts would be a Mug to go before the Cup game the Knives would be out and there’d be Forking hell to pay and he’ll not want that on his Plate he’d end up all washed up and left out to dry
Replaced by who? I hope we told them to go find 5 million, the Barnsley Bargan closing down sale is shut for business these days.
