They're going cheap Only undisclosed fee Chien Lee and co need to get telling us what their true intentions are because all I've seen so far is sell the assets.replace with cheap. Will the money even stay in the club?
To be fair we sold off deadwood in the summer and fetched in good replacements and then we replaced Bradshaw with Woodrow.
I've got to say that I am extremely disappointed that were only three days into January and we've already sold one of our most important players. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
It's not good signs is it? Early indications are nothing has changed as we suspected. All abort short term profits no desire to think long term. Get the the next cheap lad in so we can sell him off in 12/18nmonths time. Makes sense from a business point of view no doubt about it, from a fans point of view it's just awful.
“We have made a significant profit on this transfer which brings long-term sustainability to the club and allows us to reinvest short-term in the squad. “ Sounds like we are hard up reading that.
Makes sense really. Foreign owners who have zero interest in Barnsley. Only motivation to buy the club has to be money and profits. If they get big profits on players, that’s them gone. Expecting more to go now, but hoping we have replacements lined up. Woodrow for Bradshaw was a great bit of business. I will judge it all when the window shuts.
Did we sell off the deadwood? How many replacements came in? I'm still waiting for hamills replacement
Sounds like we are on the verge of bankruptcy and the only option was to sell to keep the club viable
that's my take on it. If we get in some quality via the loan market and take the step up then this will make sense. I do not think Potts is championship quality, that said he would have helped us. Its a risk and they have taken it. Many moons till the window shuts.
We do not yet know what the replacement will be. That caveat apart, I have to say it is disappointing to lose an integral team member at this stage. It is de-stabalsing. Again as others have said, the intentions of the owners remain unclear. A promotion to the championship is worth more than the sale of any of our players will probably raise and the profit is pocket change to the owners.
Lets see how the rest of the window pans out. One player out - sort of fits the business model - any more first teamers out and it will start to look like not much has really changed. - Maybe Moncur or Jackson going I can accept as they will be out of contract and dont seem keen to renew but if we start selling any more of the spine of the team I will worry. Of course we dont know how much Potts has gone for - only that its more than £1.5 million - guess we will probably find out in due course. Hopefully the rejection of bids for Thiam means we are limiting the sales this time
