But who are our targets to reinvest in? It will be another player with potential who we need to develop over time then flog as soon as they show a mere glimpse of potential. I doubt we will buy a ready-made replacement for Potts. However the club want to spin it we have weakened our team, certainly in the short term.
Time to move on. We will sign someone new and we will sing their name instead. We need players that play for the badge, not someone who will jump ship at the first chance. No loyalty in this game.
THE EXADUS has begun, the thing is was it a sale or a disposal of assets, was he surplus to requirements, or was it to generate additional capital for a bigger INVESTMENT, Lets all WATCH THIS SPACE
Nah... maybe I will be proven wrong but this strategy of selling players at profit at the expense of developing the results on the pitch is bang out of order. Supporters deserve more than that.
If we were mid table I'd feel less annoyed but if we don't get promoted we'll lose all our decent players and I really you don't want to languish in league 1.
I can't see it being anything groundbreaking as GG has alluded to improving the club's sustainability. An impressive loanee is the best case scenario IMO.
Or....our club ...who take any offer the milli second a half decent one comes in. The player will double his wages....we on the other hand have the option to say no.
In Friday's Chronicle GG said we would only sell a player if we received a big offer from a big big Club. With due respect to all concerned, £1.5 million is not a big offer especially if Blackpool have a sell on clause and Preston North End cannot be described as a big big Club. My initial feeling is one of extreme disappointment, unless of course they have a quality player ready and prepared to come into replace Potts.
There's no such player. Since Bosman it's been dog eat dog and theres no loyalty either way. If a player can get more.money he'll be off. Cant blame them because if it goes the other way due to injuries or loss of form he'll be released anyway.
How loyal were we to brad Potts in accepting the first offer that came in for him? See this more like a Marc roberts than a sammy Winnall situation. He’s obviously not engineered it. Don’t apportion any blame here to the player at all. It’s closer to home for him as well as being a step up a division, and probably quite a bit more money - and we’ve accepted the bid very quickly. What’s he meant to do? The club have sold him, at their own wish.
The real tumble for Barnsley came in the Steve Parkin / Gudjon Thordarson era. Then, we had virtually no assets. Player sales for income is the reality for Barnsley Football Club. We will get over this and will thrive. It’s just a shame that the ‘Yellow Submarine’ song will disappear. Away at Accrington Stanley, in the tent, will live forever. Players’ contracts don’t.
2nd offer! I'm just gutted this is a sign of things to come. Thought we had turned a corner and automatic was back on the table. Now expect one or two more to follow him out the door.
Never will be a regular championship player so for a league 1 player its not too bad. Only concern is if there is nobody of equivalent or better ability brought in.
