They do. They just do it on very very rare occasions. Then people try to point to this as being the norm and that these players are good. In reality it's a blip and these players are *****. A fact proven by Thiam lad season when he did not score a single goal from open play.
He’s scored four crackers from outside the box this season, more than any other player. I wouldn’t call that “very rare”. Are we still judging him on his goal scoring record in the Championship last season when the whole team was dreadful and he was new to English football? I prefer to give players a clean slate rather than call them absolute garbage because of how they were performing a year ago.
His goal against Scunthorpe was as good as any of Thiam's if memory serves. As bad as special Kay was he at least managed four goals from open play in the championship.
So we should ignore the 30 odd abysmal games in the championship, because it doesn't fit with the current mindset that he must be portrayed as a good player at all costs?
As a striker, over the course of two and a bit seasons. He wasn’t abysmal in every game he played. Potts had just as many abysmal games yet the board get slated for selling him. I honestly give up. Have you really got nothing better to do than defend the opinion that Thiam is “absolute garbage” after the performances he’s put in and the goals he’s scored over the last few weeks? Try having a bit more of a positive mental attitude, you’ll feel better for it.
You would have a decent argument if you didn't make up stats and state opinions as though they are facts...
Non of our players are the finished article. We signed too many young players that were out of their depth last season & that, and very poor management from Morais lead to us going down. This season has started well, with Woodrow, Dougall & Bahre now looking good, after a injury / adjustment time for two of them. The great coaches have lifted Mowatt & McGeehan back to form & have seen some young blood come in. Potts, Pinnock, Lindsay, Cavare, Thiam & Moore have all looked good at this level mostly. I think the question is, is the priority promotion this season, or making a profit on players and building something long term. This is a difficult division to get out of & I believe we need to get back first time round, or players & fans may move on.
I'm sorry, but surely you can see a player that has come from another country, where the pace of the game is slow & been asked to play high intensity football. It takes time & for me, he is starting to look like a player. A player some team has allegedly offered 2 million euros for. Can't be that pathetic.
Yes. "I honestly give up. Have you really got nothing better to do than defend the opinion that Thiam is “absolute garbage” after the performances he’s put in and the goals he’s scored over the last few weeks? Try having a bit more of a positive mental attitude, you’ll feel better for it." Thiam has looked excellent in recent matches. He can still only play 70 minutes admittedly.
The 30 odd abysmal games he played in the champ. Played under 30 and believe he actually only started 12 of those. I would also argue that he played quite well in some of those games.
Apologies it was 29. It's not as if I said 46 and it was five. I never mentioned starts either. Your last sentence is entirely subjective. In my opinion he didn't.
I accept your apology. Yes my last sentence is subjective, hence why I've not said something like "a fact proven by...". That'd be silly.
Thiam was outstanding yesterday against a Premiership outfit and my personal MOTM in spite of sterling performances from other BFC players. He is improving match on match.
