What! People said give examples, that’s the most recent. There was absolutely no reason to mention race in that statement but Dianne as she often does went for it. She’s never been ridiculed for being black as far as I’m aware just for coming over as inept [
Only caught a bit of Question Time last night but Fiona Bruce was appalling , its unwatchable with her in the chair .
I don't think she's ridiculed for being black, but receives ridicule that a similarly hapless white female politician wouldn't.
I find it amazing that for being perhaps a bit ditsy there's so much hostility towards her. So she got some numbers muddled on the radio. I much prefer nasty racists whose actual policies result in British nationals getting deported and denied access to healthcare
Firstly would like to point out that I don’t have a ’problem’ ,I also don’t think she gets anymore ridicule than anybody else that had come out with the stuff that she comes out with would . May gets the piss ripped out of her on a regular basis but nobody mentions her colour.
On QT last night she said Labour were ahead in the polls....cue instant audience laughter and comments shouted by all around the desk to the contrary saying that they were behind. All seamed very primed to me as she was actually right according to most polls.
Brilliantly selective. Some time ago, when I identified the person who held off the Millwall fans at Wembley intent on attacking the Barnsley fans with families in in the top tier as the "black steward", at least one poster came on here implying I was racist using the term, black steward. I didn't see you rushing to accuse them of "having problems"
I agree but disagree that other white female politicians wouldn't (and havn't) reveived similar attention. May is widely ridiculed, with particular attention to her physical appearance and social awkwardness. Imagine if Thatcher would have been around in this multi technological age? She was mightily lampooned during her tenure. Spitting Image portrayed her as a pschopathically insane megalomaniac (with a dash of cruel dominaitrix). Abbott is seen as a weak link and is being targeted by those with a political agenda as a consequence. I'd suggest most Labour party supporters recognise she is damaging to Labour's prospects and would prefer a movement to the back benches. I've no doubt she is an intelligent and learned person in reality but the horse has long bolted.
Then if she was right, why didn’t she have the intelligence to quote her sources, facts and figures?... Because the latest Yougov polls see labour drop and behind! Instead she does, as is becoming a theme in these things, make stuff up and hope that nobody notices. Her actual response wasn’t to quote her sources or try and explain why she believed labour were neck and neck... She replied, “Yes, but we went into the last general election 20 points behind and Theresa May was convinced she was going to smash us. “I believe that if we could make up 20 points in the last general election, I believe we can win any forthcoming general election.” It’s nothing to do with her sex or race, she can’t handle live debate. She says things without understanding. I think some of the things that come out of her mouth surprise even herself! It was clear on qt that she was following the party line but did not have a clue why or really what it was. Any labour supporter must see that the tories would be long gone if it wasn’t for Corbyn and senior members such as Abbott. There’s even loyal labour supporters in here saying they won’t vote for labour with those two there! When is the party going to wake up.... or don’t they want to have to handle the crap?
She kicked off and complained that the NHS had hired `blonde, blue-eyed girls from Finland, instead of nurses from the Caribbean' Totally racist. If somebody had complained that they had hired black Caribbean nurses instead of blond haired blue eyed nurses they would currently have a criminal record
Probably because he didn't read that one little post of yours out of the tens of thousands on here? I've just checked, he wasn't involved in that thread at all.
Like i pointed out earlier, i've never worked with a Finnish nurse nor even a nurse from Scandinavia. I do, and have worked with many colleagues who are originally from africa, mostly Zimbabwe. So not sure where she is coming from on this one.
She was talking about one particular hospital in hackney who had a staff shortage 20 years ago so hired a few nurses from Finland
Don't know but you could ask him since I was (un)reliably informed by a very elderly Italian lady, that he is still alive and living in the cellars under the Vatican !!
