And after 3 years? I'm talking about the club's long term potential. We are a good club with very wealthy owners and a decent fanbase. I've every faith in us having parity with Huddersfield in the coming seasons.
He's been here 5 minutes and has zero loyalty to barnsley and why should he. A tin pot league one team who keeps selling all their best players or a premier league team with millions to spend and a really good chance of going straight back up. Plus a huge pay rise. Why wouldn't he go???
We might have parity in the future. Maybe in terms of division, by August this year. But how does that give us more potential? We have no more fans to call upon, no bigger a catchment area really and a much more modest financial standing as a start point. Forget the owners having money, Barnsley FC have little. They however have an owner who will spend and a minimum three year warchest which will dwarf our budget, assuming they are relegated this season which seems certain. I am as loyal a fan as you’ll find, but I don’t see how Barnsley have more ‘potential’ than Huddersfield Town, nor why they wouldn’t be a more attractive proposition for a coach living and working abroad.
OK maybe not more, but no less potential than them. They've had a bit of a boom time. As others have said, punching above their weight. Their owner isn't extremely wealthy, and it's rumoured that his health isn't good. If they, Burnley and Bournemouth can grace the premier league then there's no reason why we can't aspire to do the same. Time to back ourselves rather than looking longingly at similar clubs.
Well being realistic they do. Why did Kiefer Moore join us last year. Was it because he thought we had more potential than Rotherham. Probably. But main reason we could offer more money imagine the deciding factor.
