what's guessing we're around 70/4 at close today the 1994 46 all out was bad, but at least it was v's a team of world beaters, we shouldn't be nigh on 600 behind against this team, reckon the only reason follow on not enforced last night was to ensure another days play to collect gate money
We picked the wrong side . The batting line up from 3-10 are all , all rounders and our openers are useless .
don't mind curran in, broad and anderson won't last forever so needs games, but both rashid & ali playing in WI?? think root bowled better and should have had a wicket too which makes it even worse expected their declaration at tea so i'm going for 50/3 at close
It's horses for courses. West Indies read the wicket better than us . 2 spinners + Root was clearly a wrong decision .
Holder smacks a double hundred and declares. Can England get over 600 to win? No chance. The last time I saw the Windies batting like this was in the days of Viv Richards.
Curran for me is (and probably always will be) a bowler that suits english conditions and won't travel well. Broad should always have played here. Poor team selection overall with the consequence being one of the poorest test nations making us look very average indeed.
Been the same story for years can't keep starting innings at 30-3 one day you will get knocked over. New Zealand did it to us and now West Indies have.
Problem is that our top order play a lot more 20/20 and don't seem to be able to consistently bat for long periods of time.
We have no chance of winning, but we should have. It's a batting paradise, only a 4th day pitch, Windies showed how easy it is to play on and the run rate we have to go at isn't high. Sadly our players don't know how to play a Boycott innings to dig deep and tire the bowlers. Our South African opener who's had more chances than he deserves needs to make a big 100.
Yes I agree that it IS possible but highly unlikely. Too many all rounders who could each get a century but are, in truth, walking wickets
http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/...s-england-1st-test-england-tour-of-wi-2018-19 Last six wickets for 32 runs is some collapse even by our standards. Players with backbones required.
We can't bat. It's been evident for years, the coaching is terrible and far too aggressive exposing garbage technique. We only win when our bowlers perform miracles... That's asking far too much of a team, but it's the norm for test cricket now. I'm not sure any of the batsmen would have had a career 10-15 years ago
We may not be far away from having completely separate test and one day/T20 sides with a different coach for each format. Can't perform like that agaist a side that has even struggled against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in recent times, it's embarrassing!
