https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47019409 That statement "We won family club of the year in 2017" really gets up my nose. Who judges these things??
I’m not sure about family club of the year award don’t know how they are judged but in fairness I would imagine there are some very good people working at millwall. They’ll have their David Croft’s and lauries etc who are good people working in the background and genuine fans who are sick of this time and time again. I feel for these people however their work is undone by the highly paid or privileged position people at the club. When Neil Harris calls for a Millwall atmosphere and incidents at the club go unpunished by the powers that be at the club and in the FA then this good work by these volunteers ( because that’s what most of the salt of the earth at the club are ) is undone and the genuine fans suffer. Stewards are their for safety and the pittance it pays the people on the front line imo won’t risk life or limb to stop these idiots (the hero at Wembley are exceptions to the rule rather than common imo) It seems the more they do snd get away with the more they push it next time. I’ll bet three quarters of those fighting outside the ground didn't go to the match and probably waited outside to carry it on . There’s been evidence of Millwall (fans)turning up for special occasions in their words and then you have numpties turning out for away fans that are also just in for the occasion . Police intelligence and operations reduced a lot of this a few years ago not entirely but enough for ordinary fans to feel relatively safe at games . Theresa May had a lot to answer for imo but in the here and now something must be seen to be done to keep fans safe and not revert back to the 70s and 80s of backward match experiences
It means that the Everton fans were partly to blame also. I've seen a video of the Everton fans chanting outside a pub in the middle of things kicking off, cars being hit by missiles etc
I suspect you know exactly what it means. It takes 2 to tango and as bad as Millwall are the small number of Everton fans involved didn’t exactly cover them selves in glory.
And people think this board is bad! https://millwall-forum.vitalfootball.co.uk/threads/where-are-the-scousers-now.33837/
It does the chanting is appalling but also know people on Facebook with 5 0 who regularly meet Millwall for a scrap .... so we have history with them as well ... most clubs do so can we say that about our fans
Calling out the of course part ... many friends are Evertonian some at game yesterday who went and caused no trouble at all like vast majority
You've taken it to mean it as though he's said "of course they'd be involved, typical scousers" etc etc... i honestly don't think he meant it like that. He was just acknowledging the fact that Everton fans were involved as well that's all.
But this wasn’t about us. To use “what about” when defending your own isn’t an answer really. I get you live in Liverpool and have friends who were probably there, if any Barnsley fans have been involved with Millwall in the past they’ve been quite rightly pillored on here by the vast majority of folk
Sorry but you've got completely the wrong end of the stick and like everyone else has pointed out, Everton fans were involved in it. He said "of course" to acknowledge they were involved, not "typical scousers at it again" as you've clearly interpreted it. To just blame Millwall fans would've been unfair and unbalanced. Think you're being a touch oversensitive. Nobody is having a go at scousers.
