I'm not linking just saying they're the same.

'Maybe because I believe the Head Coach has more involvement and say than you’re trying to allude to?'
Gally's post hasn't put anything to bed them. I've taken it at face value and you're saying there's actually more to it.

None of our current team centre halves apart could anyone say is definitively ready for the Chanpuonship. They have either tried and been found wanting or haven’t you tried. We could quite easily have to replace 6 or 7.

Absolutely they are. I was talking about the system we have adopted which includes both age limitation and statistical analysis.

I’m saying my interpretation of what he’s said, and what has been said in the past, is exactly in line with the position I’ve given to you of my opinion. I’ve no idea how you’ve taken it, face value or not.

    Exactly what's written without interpretation.

But the club isn't as interested in older players having an immediate impact on the pitch. It's all about the resale.

January 2016 had seen us improve quite dramatically from the performances & results from Autumn 2015. I thought the 2015/16 team even at their worst was an improvement on their 2002/03 and 2003/04 counterparts. Was our team which lost to Altrincham inferior to the ones beaten by Rhyl & Marine in the 1970's?

Yeah IMO that part isn't the right strategy. Not just because of immediate results because I think younger players will develop better with more experience alongside them. So in effect the resale strategy would also be more successful with a few older heads.

Not really following the script of what your initial point was, but how is that different to when we last got promoted?

I only had confidence that Mawson could really cut it in the Championship from our defence, Hourihane was a shoe-in, Brownhill wasn’t ours, Hammill was tipped to leave, Watkins tended to divide opinion, Winner had potential, and Fletcher was on loan.

We still feared the worst the following season and needed 6-7 players. What we have now is the nucleus secure and on our terms, so if they do make the step up like the last squad did the fire sale can be avoided (which was your original point I think).

I’m too young to know it was the worst performance I’ve ever seen beat my previous worst of bromsgrove. The team that lost 8 million games on the trot wasn’t a terrible team to be fair it was managed by an awful manager with terrible tactics. statistically they embarked on the worst losing run in our history so I guess they will be harshly judged going forward. The performances during that losing run were absolutely abject.

The difference is the majority have already tried and failed. Though Potts shows you can develop. Your point was we won’t have to replace the team. We may very well have to do so. The plan thus far has failed unless you support a team to make money there has been no progress off the torch and little has been spent on improving the Spectator experience. Rich people have got richer. That’s the reality. It still remains our only hope.

Based on the last eighteen months, the only member of the current squad who I think is Championship standard is Woodrow. Pinnock and Mowatt might get there. Rest of 'em no chance.

I'm just glad John Dennis never adopted this strategy.

But where I’m coming from is that some of those players who failed, in your opinion, shouldn’t have been asked to make that step up together and under those circumstances. Going up as a team gives them far better chance at succeeding in the Championship, as we’ve seen. Quality additions to supplement them are healthier than trying to start again like we did the season we went down.

I actually think some of the current crop would make the step up with Stendel in charge, but it’s an almighty ask. Which if anything, proves how amazing those first six months in the Champ were and how much of a success that was because comparing the teams like for like I think there’s an argument for both.

Bugger! You're now making me feel exceptionally old! Yer rotten swine!:D
I still maintain the current team has performed better this season that our 2015/16 one did by the same stage. As for whether the players will automatcially struggle in the Championship were we to go up this time simply because they struggled last season, I just don't agree. It's my opinion those specific players who failed last season have improved and developed both individually and as a team under a better Head Coach (albeit at a lower level), giving them a better base on which to show their capabilities.
Others don't share that viewpoint, which is fair enough.

So when I asked the other day the evidence was that he met him & now there’s a lot more than that. Ok

You didn’t really ask. I just told you that this was a signing Hecky wanted to get over the line and as a result personally met him to really sell the club and how we’re the best place for young talent, to stop him signing for others. At this point he was going to turn us down.

Couple of other bits but not for public domain or in line with our posts to each other.

Mainly the part where Patrick was absolutely insistent that James had no part to play in the recruitment policy.
