There’s some folk on here with a proper overblown sense of entitlement. We’ve drawn a game we should have lost. Shown some backbone to get back into a game where it went wrong. We’ve conceded two goals - in a season we’ve conceded fewer goals than any other side (well, the same as Sunderland but we’ve played two more), the second a mix up between a centre back and keeper which was poor, but which happen. And the world is coming to an end. It’s because Potts was sold. Or we need to replace Winkler desperately. I’ll just point out that we are unbeaten in nine league games, winning six, and of the three draws, two were against sides currently above us in the table. We had a chance to go second tonight. We didn’t do it. We are also only three points clear of Sunderland who have two games in hand. But there’s a lot of games to play and points to win. Sunderland have lost their goal scorer, Portsmouth their loan players. By this time Thursday we’ll know what our squad looks like - at the moment it looks better than both of theirs. Luton will drop points along the way too. We still have a fantastic chance of top two, we are on a great unbeaten run. A win against scunny on Saturday would mean 24 points from 10 games. If we can maintain that rate for the rest of the season we’d end up on 97 points - we’d be hugely unfortunate to need many more than 90 or so to be in the top two. It’s unusual for 90 to be third. Some ought to have a bit of a look at themselves and ease back on the hissy fits. We’re hardly falling off a cliff like Peterborough.
We’ve taken 21 points in the last 9 games. It might go to ‘do doo’ - but it’s not looking like that up to now
Agree. I was worried back in November, I couldn’t understand the tactics. I was baffled why our two centre backs were often isolated with no holding midfielders & the full backs too high but we’ve tightened up & become more organised we’ve done really well through December & January. We’ve had a bad hour on a horrible Tuesday night in near freezing temperatures but rebounded to take a point, it’s not the end of the world, if it’s happened a few times I could understand the moaning but not tonight after the run we’ve been on. No reason to panic & certainly no reason for idiots to start abusing our players online.
That’s stupid if that’s happening on social media . Tbh I can’t get why our fans would want to abuse our players online . A few questions on here fair enough some of us still like to comment game by game even though the bigger pictures looking bright . But to start abusing is weird imo mindvif pksyers put themselves up on social media for praise it’s inevitable it’s gonna reverse if I were a footballer I’d steer well clear of social media to just official statements
I was meaning on here there’s another thread with a poster calling Davies a ******. I very rarely can think of a situation where players deserve that kind of abuse, I think the last one I can remember was Frimpong, Shea, Mellis, Proschwitz & co after that pathetic 5-0 defeat at Huddersfield the season we got relegated.
It's still in our hands for automatic promotion. Keeping the squad is important and hopefully we can do that. Are Luton that great if they twice allowed Portsmouth to equalise and failed to beat us? I think it's still all to play for, the players certainly aren't giving up and we need to get behind them.
Last night was embarrassing. At 2-0 the board was lagging and slow as owt because people couldn't wait to post how rubbish we are, how terrible Davies is, how Lindsay can't head the ball and that we missed Potts. There was post after post of negativity, told-you-so's and almost jubilation that we were losing. We then made a change at half time, changed the system and amid unbridled scenes of ecstasy we conceded again. Stendel needs a new assistant, Davies is a wnaker, Lindsay can't head the ball. But much to the disgust of many, we fought back. Thiam gave us a lifeline thanks to good work from Brown. Thiam then went off because that was the switch Stendel had decided upon making to try and get us a point. Again this was a stupid move. Lo and behold the equaliser came - from our top scorer no less. The bloke who we should be driving to Sunderland if they bid 2 million. And at 2-2 the posts dried up. I presume many posters went to bed, clearly crestfallen at our comeback. Yes we were poor last night for the majority of the game. I didn't agree with the initial line up either, but I like it when Stendel makes changes. He doesn't mess about waiting for the 70th minute like many managers do. I agree with the criticism of Davies and Lindsay for the second goal, but here's the difficult part - this does not make them wnakers. It means that they've dropped a monumental blolock and will be just as annoyed and disappointed as anyone. But they also are part of the best defence in the league. The same back four who held Luton to a clean sheet on New Yewrs Day. So yes I have no problem with criticism. No problem with passion or disappointment. I guess I just don't understand the personal abuse that some of our players have to endure on a weekly basis and the satisfaction many seem to get when we lose, or heaven forbid, concede a goal. We're still in the hunt. It's in our hands. You reds.
Well on course to achieve my prediction of 4th place this season. Which isn't a bad season as a fan, if it ends up like that and may lead to promotion. However it's all eggs in the play off basket or the season had to be deemed a failure when the remit at the start of the season was automatic promotion. It's fine lines and could come down to just a few points either way.
Well 88/89 on our current rate! If we keep it up we will be unlucky not to go up I agree. As I say may only come down to a few points either way. Currently Sunderland Luton and Pompy are doing better than us.
The best thing about last night's performance and people's reaction to it, is that's if given you the opportunity to come on here and post this.
I see you started a thread last night when we were 2-0 down. The first thread you've started in ages.
Comments during the game are perfectly acceptable and normal, saying things like not playing well, so and so is poor tonday etc too, but to call personal abuse is not and probably says more about the poster than the event. We were poor against Oxford true, but let’s not lose sight of the big picture, we are well in the hunt for automatic promotion and teams who grind out results when not playing well tend to be the teams that go on to achieve things.
Funny thing is as I thought the team weren’t playing as well as were used to I had a couple of quid on a draw at 2:0 down 10/1 on in play betting . So still had faith .
