Ok, my brothers birthday is coming up, he's well into his whisky but I have zero clue.

    Anyone recommend a decent bottle??

    TIA

Those Adnams ones come in around £40 I think. Don't think they're in the supermarkets yet but can get them on Amazon as well as that website.

I've about 100 bottles for sale that my dad collected, mostly royal family Bells decanters. All full. He has a few obscure brands as well

Try a whiskey distillery tour to the only whiskey distillery in Yorkshire, only £10 a tour with tasters. I really enjoyed it, bought a couple of bottles, about £40 a bottle.

Rather partial to the odd glass, or bottle, of Laphroaig. Love the peaty aroma and smoky aftertaste.

Most whisky and whiskey are great.
    Bells is the worst.
But you can spend £50 and get something that tastes like Bells.
Out of the common cheaper stuff I like Grouse.
A bit more expensive I like Jura.

Glenlivet, Dalwhinnie or Jura are good shouts. I'd say Dalwhinnie of the three.

And Tesco are knocking it out at £28 at the moment - that's a bargain. But don't make the mistake of getting the Laphroaig Select - that's horrible.
If you want to spend £50 then get him Lagavulin - they've got that at £49. He'll like either.

What does he like? Single malt?

The list is endless. Ben Nevis is one of my favourites, and Penderyn is a nice Welsh whisky.

As mentioned, the distillery at Hunmanby has a good range. They've been stocking other brands until their own has aged.

Supermarkets stock some nice ones these days. Even Aldi do a decent one called Glenmarnock.

Any Islay single malts at a nice price?

Caol Ila standard 12 years is my favourite tipple.

McCallan 12 YO is the best you can get around £50.

The McCallan distillery is the best on Speyside by some distance and is always winning top awards.

My son brought a bottle of Hibiki back from Japan which had me smiling but just looking up the price I can't see me replacing it or giving it away as freely to my mates either.

Get he some McCallan, you not miss with that.
