We have only lost one key player & have proved 2 others can step into his shoes. We have kept our key players & added a bit of pace in Green. I would have liked goalkeeping cover & maybe another striker (who we have signed, but is with Bradford still), not sure if we can recall him?
OK admin, understand why you have merged in a way, but wanted to actually post a positive thread on here... I think we are going all Sheffield Wednesday.
I think you've got arguments on both sides being pretty well constructed at the minute rather than being all Sheffield Wednesday. I think the lack of a signing is a concern, but keeping all our star players was the biggest request from everyone and the club have delivered on that. Merged Threads; I kid you not, there's been six threads started in the last hour with the exact same title with either positive/negative being the only word change. A lot of traffic on the site today so streamlining the threads was something to trial (and requested by some posters). I think it's helped personally but that's not for me to decide. The home screen has looked a lot better for it and interaction has been really good.
Very underwhelming, especially after what Conway was supposed to have said about new signings. Hope we don't look back on it as a missed opportunity in a few months time.
Fair fecks then, just that nearly all the threads have negative titles. Got no issue with you guys. You have forgiven my drunken crap at times...
As already said I think it’s been a brilliant window. Potts aside, we’ve kept our key players who are gonna play a major part in our push for promotion. We’ve got shut of a few fringe players on big wages and also added a couple of exciting prospects. It’s going well on the pitch so people are just finding something to have a dig about.
I'm quite chuffed the squad hasn't been decimated.rather than what's come the other way. January purchases are rarely successful for any team never mind Barnsley. Come to think of it, who have we ever signed in the January window that's made any difference?
I usually agree with most of your stuff Jim & value our musical discussions. We have lost Potts. (Post history will show my distain). We have lost Winkler to a Premier League side. His loss could be massive. We have lost GG. I can't see how he could affect the run in now. We have lost 2 fringe players. Not gained a lot, apart from Green. Sunderland have lost their top scorer, Charlton have lost Grant, Luton have lost their manager & gained Moncur. Portsmouth have signed Isgrove & Vaughan. I rest my f-ing case.
That was a cockup though. He should have been signed before the previous deadline but someone ballsed it up meaning we had to wait till January by default.
It wasn't but aren't you being a dick with you're piss poor comments, have a listen to the ceo's interview with Giddings and the vision the owners have for the club before ill informed comments
I’d say Portsmouth have done well but it’s not about how the others have done it’s how we have done. I feel we have weakened ourselves. Only time will tell. I still think we will go up perhaps and finish in the top 2 but we have certainly gambled on zero injuries to players between now and May.
Vaughan and isgrove doing well? Vaughan is well past his best id say although I may be proved wrong. Luton have done the best imo
As i say I disagree, but very much listen to you. I think Moncur & Isgrove were ones I'd lose. Green looks fast, as does this Middlesbro kid. I think we will finish second behind Luton.
To me it shows how much we've become acclimatised to losing our crown jewels that so many are delighted with our business this window. Losing a key player means it's not been a positive one. We shouldn't be patting ourselves on the back that we've kept the core of our team mid-season. It should be par for the course.
Of course you're right, but it's at least a step in the right direction for now. When Potts went many people were fearing the worst.
I’m not sure if you realise the irony in your original post but hey ho. Time will tell but my point is that we don’t seem to have moved on a great deal with these new owners in terms of investment in new players. The jury is still massively out in my (worthless) opinion. The positive is that we appear to be tying players to longer contracts and rejecting bids now rather than capitulation at the first offer, but I just expected more this window when we have such a good chance of promotion - the players we have signed have lots of potential but they won’t instantly improve the team. Their appointment of Morais last season was a total disaster and they have a lot of ground to make up. For what it’s worth, no ones opinion is worthless; even one that you don’t agree with. In many ways, they have more worth. The fact that you made such a comment would indicate that you’re pretty narrow minded. Have a lovely day.
Not narrow minded at all just fed up off the constant need by so called fans to have a dig at the club no matter what they do, have a lovely day
