I'm up north for the week and was planning on driving South after the match tomorrow but do people think there's any danger of it being called off? If it's likely to worsen, I'd prefer to get back sooner
There's been the odd snow flurry, mate, but none of it is settling, so far. In fact, it was a damn sight colder yesterday. Provided there's no major snowfalls and/or significant drop in temperature, I'd be surprised if it's postponed. Now I've opened my big, fat gob, there'll be herds of migrating caribou on Dodworth High Street tomorrow!
Think it will go ahead unless pitch freezes. Hopefully they'll turn the undersoil heating on just in case. No rain or snow forecast for Barnsley. But just like Biglil. I've opened mi fat trap.
Just passed a herd of caribou in Hoylandswaine that were wandering in the general direction of Silkstone.
It depends whether there are any 1st team regular starters carrying a slight knock/niggle (cough, cough.....)
Didn't we have a game called off not long ago because a team had so many injuries they could only field a squad of 16 and all the bench were youth players so they just said the pitch was waterlogged and called it off.
Looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow, it predicts a temperature of eight degrees and sunshine, so the game should be on. Reading today, that Adam Hammill is looking forward to playing against us. Sounds ominous.!!!
Only the ref can call it off to my knowledge. Taking into consideration police advice(surrounding areas eg snow) and chances of injuries to players involving managers. A club can only appeal re squad availability and do not have the right to call a match off themselves for whatever reasons.
It's a fair question as we have installed the only under soil heating system that doesn't work in temperatures below + 4 celcius but it's actually warmed up a bit so we'll be reight.
A local ref on behalf of matchday ref can inspect and give his decision on whether pitch playable and inform matchday ref.
