Bit hard to judge Hammill today playing as a centre forward , Pinnock and Lindsay kept him quiet . Nice to see him back playing and get a good reception

He was played today as a second striker - this is purely hypothetical and we have now moved on.
Personally I think he could have been part of a very good squad but not to be.

That’s very harsh on Thiam in my opinion.
He was never given a decent run in the side until recently and his goal and assists record since suggests that was a mistake.
Hammill will always have a place in our hearts but Thiam has the pace and power to go on to have a far more successful career.

Ok we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm glad he's playing well now. I really think it's been a long time coming. Edit - I don't want to be having a go at Thiam, I'm delighted he's coming up wit the goods - this is in the context of us all being proved that Hammill wasn't up to it.

I wanted Adam to stay but in my opinion today justified the club not keeping him. Great player and Barnsley through un through, great reception once he went off, hoe he eventually comes back to coach in the club in some capacity.

He wasn't given a chance last season he made a handful of starts and one was as a lone striker at Hillsborough something he defiantly isn't. He has 7 goals and 3 assists from the wing this season so I think he is having a decent season I expect him to get double figures. Wouldn't swap hammill for thiam now in a month of Sunday's.

I'm not sure I would. I'm simply contesting that at the time Hammill was let go, Thiam did not look like he was a worthy replacement.

I can see your point for me hammill did very little in the 2 seasons in the championship, I love the bloke like we all do on my feet today clapping him off. I think if hammill was still here he would be a decent squad player to have. I always say for a player to prove them selfs they have to be given a run on games in their natural position. Thiam was never given that in the championship.

Yes. During a lot of the season where we were forced to play a central midfielder out wide, a defender out wide, a striker out wide or simply play with just one winger

Thiam is looking a very good player and obvioulsy coach's who saw him everyday and understand the game saw the potential in him.
But on the pitch he was truly awful last season, nothing he does now will change that. Early on this season he was hit and miss. He has since come on massively and has been excellent. He has really turned it round and good on him for doing so.

Strange tactics though, play him as a striker and bomb long balls at him. Even at his best he’s not going to do much with that!

In all fairness, you’re stating an opinion as fact.

I thought he was their best player while he was on the grass, not that it was saying much.
Form team in the division and we saw them off with absolute ease.

They do when they’re signed as a winger and the Head Coach, at the time, plays them as a lone striker. His best games last season came when played out wide so I think the powers at Oakwell knew we had a player there.

I don’t think we’ve carried him that much. Had as many poor games as Potts did before we sold him.

Thiam was great today, some people think a young lad from a foreign country should come in and perform like a local veteran who’s spent years at a club.

It’s not utter nonsense at all. I for one remember Barnsley 3 Derby 2 last season and how Hedges was brought off in the 65/70th minute for Hammill and how the team seemed to flow better with Adam on. Whether that was due to an attribute as of yet undeciphered as an integral part of the game is anyone’s guess. But I think it’s harsh to label Nudger’s post utter nonsense even if it is hyperbolic.
