Seen statements from Barnsley council last week or so saying that they've been given funding for improvements to the junction 36 corridor (A6195 and A635) including improving 3 of the roundabouts on the A6195 and building a new one on the A635 Anyone any idea where I can find more information on it? Surprised to see that Cathill roundabout looks set to be redone again when it was only altered at significant cost and disruption a few years ago. As a side note while looking for information I've found that at the end of 2017 the council identified stairfoot roundabout as needing improving again
Stairfoot roundabout just needs yellow boxes painted at each junction. Most of the problems are caused by cars travelling on Wombwell Lane or Grange Lane blocking off the entrances.
I thought it was referring to improvements to land alongside these junctions for development. Might have misunderstood.
At first I thought it meant that but it says road improvements rather than land improvement. I hope they aren't adding more traffic to the cathill roundabout with more businesses. Traffic queues for about a mile as it is
That won’t do anything there is no one to enforce the yellow box junction cundy cross lights have made things worse for stairfoot roundabart
Barnsley the worst hit council in the country with cuts to funding of 40% since 2010. Aye, councils fault though, nowt to do with the vindictive tories still punishing us for the 1974 strike.
It's nothing about punishing anyone. We get no funding because A/. We are not in the south and B/. We are in a labour stronghold where funding will not give the Tories an extra seat so they focus the funds where it will.
Whoever designs these supposed improvements needs sacking. The Cundy Cross nightmare is a debacle of the highest order. Add to that Stairfoot, Birdwell,, Wickes and the money wasted at Tankersley roundabout which for some reason was cancelled half way through.
To be fair to Barnsley Council Tankersley was a Highways Agency project. With you on the rest though - and Penny Pie Park which will be the biggest shambles of em all.
