I have friends who watch a lot of football and they all tell me we are by some distance the best footballing team in this division. A successful team has to incorporate all the requirements needed to be at the top, with the greatest of respect to Luton, we have footballed them to death twice this season but they have more points for a reason at the moment. We have come unstuck this term by the physicality of this league, I believe we have recently added more steel to our play( like at oxford), I hope that comes out against Wycombe too. We need to believe in ourselves, our coach and our football. I think we will be ok.
Agree that we are likely the best footballing side, but there are 3 aspects in particular that have let us down. When pressed and kicked, we haven't been always been brave enough (not surprise with how little protection we've had from referees either), the lack of set piece goals we've scored, and how in several instances we've just not been clinical enough. If you think back to the last promotion, Hourihane set pieces played a big part in our goals, and after we'd gone up too. We've really not had that many this season, and when you look at Sunderland, who are scoring most of their single goals from corners, you can see most of ours are long range hits and from open play build up. As long as we're brave and keep playing like we are, I strongly fancy us to go up. I really think we're hitting our straps now and if McGeehan continues like he is, I wonder if he may make captain material. Long way to go, but at this stage, nothing worth getting concerned about.
I'm not sure you footballed us to death twice. Yes, first half at your place it was championship v league two but we got to grips second half and at our place it was very even I thought - two good teams battling it out. The reason we are top is fitness and tactical nous - in the second half of games we are top of the league by 12 points and have only lost one second half, in the first week of the season https://www.soccerstats.com/halftime.asp?league=england3
