M1 south to junction 15 for the A43 ( silverstone) keep on A43 ( dual carriagway) to M40, south to the next junction for A34 south, follow A34 south all the way to the bottom at roundabout join M3 south then pick up signs for Portsmouth M27, then just before the city M275 which takes you into the city
No worries, if you are driving there’s a harvester and a hungry horse 5 minutes drive from the ground up the eastern road, both great for families
Impressive for a trip to Portsmouth. Had it been any other Saturday I would have given it serious consideration myself.
Technically I don’t I’m in titchfield common now which is probably closer to Southampton but has a PO postcode, moved out of the city itself 20 years ago to a village in fareham called Whiteley
Can I also suggest that if you are planning on a few in the city, you bring photo ID regardless of age - some places can be quite funny about letting you in without it.
Out of you Pompey based reds, did any of you live at Ryhill as a kid? My mate John has been asking about a lad nicknamed "gasser" that he went to school with. John says he saw him a couple of times at southern based games, but is sadly now blind so no chance of bumping into him. Edit - he's got more chance of bumping into him, but you know what I mean
- it’s bizarre the way some places down here enforce the policy and others don’t seem to care. Typically you’ll need it if you are heading to Guildhall or Gunwharf
About 10 years ago now somewhere in Pompey centre wouldn't let my mates mums & dad in because they didn't have any ID they were gobsmacked it was only 8pm and we'd not drunk anything beforehand we had to leave them and meet up later
I've been looking at predictions of the possible results at the weekend in today's paper. They have Luton down to beat Coventry and Peterborough to beat Shrewsbury at home, whilst they have Sunderland to win at Bristol Rovers, Charlton to win at Wimbledon, Donny to win at Scunny, but unfortunately they've got us down to lose at Portsmouth. I hope that's wrong. I honestly believe that at worst, we can come away with a point, with a realistic chance of taking all three.
Our record at fratton park is pretty awful to be fair, but you would hope that were just too good this time. Really need to win tonight so we don't put too much pressure on Saturday and play with a bit of freedom. If we won both games we would be level on points with Luton before they played on Sunday, and that could put pressure on them that they've not yet felt. It's certainly a fascinating battle. We've one eye on keeping pompey and Sunderland below us and the other on nicking top spot, although I doubt the team see it that way. They'll doubtless just be trying to win every game as it comes.
And any families stopping down should give the Historic Dockyard a visit on the Sunday. Well worth the entrance fee
Agreed, if you look on the planet radio website there’s usually half price offers, a family ticket, dockyard boat tours plus unlimited returns is a great deal
