Keane did well to come back so quickly. Must have been a hairline job. Subject to medical approval - it no longer becomes a time-defined injury.
? Brown only went wide permanently after the transfer window. Was probably RB in Jan. Woodrow and Moore - Guaranteed start upfront when fit. Whoever might have come in, would’ve been on bench. And would have had to been good enough (in Jan) to push ahead of Brown and Victor. You’re not going to sign any loan player who will make a difference with them obstacles. We know PL clubs won’t let lads out without some sort of guarantee of playing time. And as everyone says, January is a seller’s market, not a buyers. I suspect the issue was that the club thought Boro had a recall clause on the loan deal with Bradford - and as they didn’t, that scuppered us.
True. But we were chuffin heavy in midfield numbers anyway. I get your point though. Although Moncur and Isgrove probably didn’t need directly replacing, Potts did. I think we’ve enough in the squad - the only area short is one extra striker. Sheff Utd did it well in Jan - with Hogan and Madine coming in to bolster them (although they let Leon Clark go).
Dunno. He had a spell at RB didn’t he so can’t remember exact times. You get my drift though - if you’ve an obvious starting 11 gap for a striker, you’ve a lot bigger chance of getting someone decent in on loan. Like we did with Fletcher.
Yes I agree with that. That's why I personally would have signed a striker. Spent a bit of the stockpiled money and signed somebody who I thought was championship ability so that not only were we doing everything in our power to ensure we get promoted but also putting the playing staff in place to allow us to compete in the league above rather than having to make wholesale changes in the summer.
100%. Who though? That fits in with our wage, age and development plan.... I’ve no idea who - but I agree 100% that should have been our plan. Unless George Miller was deemed to be that guy (but the non-recall option hadn’t been realised by us?).
That's the problem, having to fit the age criteria and the money making criteria is at odds with having the best football team possible. Sure you can have both sometimes but you can't have both always and when it comes down to it we are a football club not a bank so I know which of the two should come first.
Do you think there's any chance they're erring on the side of cautious 're. Moore? If I was Jack Ross I'd be thinking no kieffer after the press conference but might it be a double bluff? Personally if he's not going to be fit for the rest of the season give Victor the chance now.
Yeah, but going back to your original point, and sticking to our parameters (whether you agree with them or not), can you think of a striker who fits the bill?
If we failed to bring in someone to fit our development plan, the next option should have been a loan signing. Someone who had already been loaned out successfully like Harvey Barnes had been. I don't agree that no-one would have wanted to come. The player would have been coming off the bench every game at the very least and one injury or suspension away from a start.
I know pompy are without confidence at the moment but they have brought in 6 players on loan (they miss thompson who bosses midfield but was recalled by millwall), only Bogle is really a good fit for this league. James Vaughan is only a sub ((coz they play one up) but imagine the money they have rolled out for all those players ....we would be moaning if we had spent that out and were averaging 5 or 6 shots per game...as per pompy.
It isn't our job to come up with the name of a player. We aren't privy to the data analysis the club has. There's a recruitment team who do that for a living.
Ah so what I posted 2 weeks ago from what a first team player told me is not so unrealistic. Just check my spelling and punctuation while your at it apologies might be posted by your little Clique posters you know who you are mmmm..
