Every time I go to away games I see Reds fans causing or involved in bother & then I always read excuses for them online. Sooner or later it needs addressing that we’ve got plenty of dickheads that support us. It’s embarrassing. Loads of people couldn’t get to their seats for kick off at Portsmouth as two reds fans were fighting each other before the game & then more of our fans at it again this weekend. What’s he standing on his seat for? Is he 5 years old & 3 foot tall or something? What bit of your brain cell is telling you it’s cool to stand on a seat at a match. Just imagine how ridiculous you’d feel standing on your seat with everyone looking at you? What an idiot. I wouldn’t dare go to an away game with my Mrs or old man, I’d be cringing at some of the things our fans say & do. To me it makes it even worse that we’re doing well & it’s happening. If we were playing **** you could at least justify it somewhat by saying fans are already in a bad mood but I suppose these lot aren’t there for the football are they? Only there for trouble
I’ll also say that the vast majority of these stewards are students & young adults who are trying to earn a bit of pocket money or money because they can’t find regular work. Don’t try & tell me that they’re all busybodies looking for trouble. Most of them will dread having to get involved with a bunch of boozed up men who for the most part are bigger & stronger than them
Too right; they're doing a job, a shitty job that most of us wouldn't do and a job that pays peanuts - they don't deserve the abuse they get from some fans. I know some of them can be aggressive, abrupt and act like knobs but in general they are polite and helpful and ultimately they're there for our safety.
It's the 'student' in the middle of the three in the foreground who's getting all the stick on social media.
Hang on, just going to post something on a random forum somewhere; going to say that Boris Johnson punched my 3yr old niece. I'll share a link to it it in a sec...
That’s why I said vast majority. End of the day why has he gone in in the first place? If he’s not on the chair nothing happens.
He’s really going for it if he is making it up because his disabled son left the ground with a black eye. Proper committing to the lie that is
I agree with the other post you make we do have fans who look to cause bother and look for confrontation. Also like you say if your over the age of 8 and stood on a seat you need to have a sit down and a good think about things. I think if you are a steward and someone is stood on a seat you don't need to eject them like I said in this post it wouldn't happen at oakwell I doubt at all they would eject for standing on a seat. But I was told that in the top of the ponty when incidents happen they try not to eject inside the ground because they is a high chance of a big kick off. Instead they video or/and wait untill the end of the game and grip them on the way out. I just think sometimes let common sense prevail.
Very few students, you are required these days to be SIA accredited... most supplement stewarding with door work.
The guy making the accusation is on Twitter. He's pictured with his wife travelling back on a coach. They look a very respectable couple, I doubt very much they are making it up.
Believe what you want then. I know what I witnessed, and the stewards showed quite a bit of restraint under a lot of provocation.
They look pretty happy considering their kid got leathered by a steward...?? Seriously, they'd be at a police station if that were true I'm calling ********, let me know if I'm wrong and I'll gladly hold my hands up.
