Club Statement | Cameron McGeehan Club News Barnsley Football Club acknowledge the following charge from The FA, regarding Cameron McGeehan. Continue reading on the official site...
Funny how they have missed the studs up challenge by their #42 on our player though, which went unpunished.
If I was the club I would also be putting together a video package of all the challenges Southend did on our players that didn’t get any punishment for.
Nobody’s fault except Cameron’s. Totally avoidable and didn’t need to do it. 3 game ban probably and missing the most important game of the season. The young Southend lad on the day done him a favour getting straight up.
It is getting ridiculous now! At least 5 of the Southend tackles were deliberate & dangerous - Kenny (just before the Cam incident), Dimi, Jacob & Jordan (twice) - yet we are targeted! It’s pathetic!
Probably deserves a ban for it. Say what you like, the way he put his foot down was not natural at all.
It didn't look good at the time so not surprised. Bit stupid from McGeehan who was our best player on the day. Imagine that means Dougall and Mowatt in midfield for next few games with Green/Hedges on wing and Bahre supporting Woodrow. Not ideal, but still plenty of ability in that line up.
Preumably it was that ***** of a ref who made the decision to refer this to the FA? I think we should contest it personally
The downside of being broadcast on TV. Contest it and take the ban when the fixtures get easier - we don’t need this in the next fortnight.
just wish we'd grow a pair and contest stuff like this, but we always take the attitude its not worth it and roll over. Plenty of other clubs successfully contest this sort if stuff, it is 50/50, we stand a chance of being successful. Personally I dont see malice or intent, same as Jacob's red, if we're unsuccessful we only get an increased punishment if it can be proved we were taking the piss in appealing which on a 50/50 call like that, I cant see we can be accused of that.
Unlike the player that went down from Brown’s challenge who must’ve done at least 5 rolls. Imagine if Cavare, Green or Brown had been able to roll around instead of crashing into the boards then maybe there would’ve been some punishment.
I'm sure if it hadn't been on Sky,, nowt would have happened so that's unfair in itself. Only successful teams are likely to be retrospectively punished.
Cam already in air when player rolls under him, where is he supposed to land, his eyes are on the ball,no pressure applied to that players leg,if it was violent, he would have been carried off with broken leg, good job the F A not in charge of film ratings, sure they would give toy story an 18
Nobody will ever convince me that it was a deliberate stamp by Cam Mcgeehan, a player who has only recently got back into his stride following serious injury. I think the Southend lad would have made something of it had he thought it was a deliberate assault on him. Who knows, it may be worth while speaking to him and getting his take on it?
