    1967 to 1971 me. Gawthorpe once picked me up by my lapels and pinned me up against the ceiling. He was a big lad.

    You must have been in my year - I was there 74-81 as I stayed into the 6th form
    You probably knew my Dad (Mr Holliday) , he was a Metalwork teacher there from around 1960 ( though might be out by a year as it was before I was born) to 1988.
    There were some great teachers - already mentioned in this thread Messers - Moss, True, Mitchell, Brain, and Hurst spring to mind amongst the ones I had, some not so good as well but I wont mention any names
    PS I was in Grange as well

    I went back years later when I was Wombwell Community Bobby. A lot of old faces were still there and funnily enough most of them remembered me from school times. Not bad seeing I left in 1969. It wasn't a bad school by any stretch.

    I was there 63 to 70! Grange House. We had three 6th Form Common rooms - the one in school - the Tavern and The Countryman!

    66-70 - was in York House, Mr Mitchel was our form teacher - happy day's indeed. Oh, and I remember that school dinners were very good indeed

    Brent House - Blue Tie
    Royal House - Red Tie
    Grange House - Green Tie
    School House - Silver Tie
    York House - Yellow Tie

    Mr Betts was the head, and if you got a caning from him, you didn't forget in a hurry. I also remember Mr Gawthorpe (always thought it was Goldthorpe) and maths tutor Mr Burkingshaw (and his wife taught there too)

    Funniest punishment was. (Please put me right if needed, memory fading) Mr Ramsden. History teacher . Would make you take a stuffed sock with stitched eyes. On a leash. For a walk Around the corridors if you misbehaved. Mr Griffiths used to bring his dog. Yantor to work and if there were any dinner left to dish out to those that wanted it. Forget it. Took it to the dog. York house me by the way.
    ps Mrs Bramley (maths) used a dunce cap for punishment. (Witch hat with a big capital D in the middle. :)

    Went to Wembley with the school (1970 ish) to watch England v Wales schoolboy international. Someone shouted get shut of the bloody ball. ( Or words to that effect) Back at school Mr Burkinshaw asked who was the person he heard swear. No one owned up. We all got lines. Time to make a confession. Sorry classmates.

    If you’re talking KW (and I know his brother lived Oxford way) then I was good mates with Kev, we’re still in touch on Facebook, Farnham will have known him too.
