“The EFL condones the mindless actions of the individual who encroached on to the pitch at St Andrews on Sunday afternoon. “It’s a situation no player should ever be faced with.” Oops.
Sky should promote this statement 50 times with pundits saying it was deliberate & then ban the EFL for 3 matches We ourselves should charge Look North with putting out fake news last night (they said Ackers beat us 2-0) Sky should encourage us to sell our stadium (they think we play at Craven Cottage!) I’ve just seen a media report that one of the poor souls who perished in the Ethiopian plane crash came from Barnsley, West Yorks. Oh, not to forget the Burnley/Barnsley/Burnsley fiascos!
Just seen the incident on the 6 o'clock news. I don't care how much you profess to love your Club and hate your nearest rivals, there is absolutely no place in the game for behaviour like that. It mirrors a similar incident in 2002, when a Birmingham supporter encroached onto the playing area and slapped Villa keeper Peter Enckleman across the face in the Blues 3-0 win at St Andrews. He was jailed for four months and banned from the ground for life. A similar sentence surely needs to be handed to the cowardly cretin who punched Jack Grealish. If he'd have caught him behind the ear, I shudder to think what the outcome might have been. Credit Grealish for not making a big deal out of the incident. How poignant that it fell to him to score the only goal of the game, that saw the Villa walk away with the three points.
Not sure anyone has mentioned it yet but there are echoes here of our infamous day against Liverpool in the Premier League. Had it not been for Jan-Aage's expert rugby tackle the fool who charged across the pitch could have done Gary Willard some serious damage. Now some might say that the referee deserved it, but we can't be saying "oh what shocking behaviour" when something similar could have happened at Oakwell. I know that was a highly-charged day but people have no business running onto the pitch, in anger or in celebration. That includes after the last game of the season as well.
I just cannot comprehend whilst in the middle of a football match that someone is so irate, that not only do they want to run on to the field of play but smack a player in the face . Its truly unbelievable. He must have been either pissed or off his tits .
I can understand someone wanting to do it I can think of a few times I’ve wanted to smack a player or ref but there is no way I ever would seriously consider actually doing it
I was thinking about that. I'm not sure whether he was going to assault or remonstrate but luckily Jan Aga stepped in. I assume he was banned.
Of course we can criticise the events of today. The pillock that ran onto the pitch against Liverpool would be a hypocrite of the highest order were he to do so, but the rest of us that didn't have every right to voice our disgust.
The country is becoming more and more lawless, brexit has given license to the morons I'm afraid, we'll see more of this no doubt. MPs will be next.
