Anyone recommend a decent Roofing company that replaces soffits, fascia's and guttering. Had a few quotes from national companies but getting prices back in excess of 5k Looking for a local firm for a good job at a fair price Cheers
Will report back, Who'd have thought barratt would have done the fascia and Soffits in wood was built c2002, I could possibly get away with painting them but I'm thinking I'm delaying the inevitable. Think a major part of the cost is scaffolding as some companies have said I'd need a full wrap around
My brother in law, my next door neighbour and myself, did ours and next door off ladders. We bought the Soffit, Fascia, White capped nails and adhesives direct from a manufacturer in Doncaster. They were part of the Polypipe group but stopped making S&F around eight years ago. Believe that Veka in Burnley extrude the product and sell to the public. You would just need a contractor to fit it.
Fully qualified roofer mate 15 years at it I can help or at least point you in the right direction. Is your house 2 storey or 3 storey. I’ve got a good friend in the scaffolding game
Our house was built in 1987. Wood soffits and fascia. We had them repainted when we moved in 94 and then again about 15 years later. We'll be ready to do it again in a year or two. So far we've spent just over £1k. Our gutters are still the original plastic ones. The house next door had everything switched to plastic 10 years ago and they've just had them all re-done last month. No idea what they've spent, but I'd guess a lot more than me. Watching some of the plastic ones going up on houses around me, it's obvious that there's nothing actually wrong with the wooden ones coming off. A bit of TLC is all they needed.
Fair point OG. The appeal of PVCu soffit and fascia for my neighbour ( James Bree's uncle by the way) and myself, is that it's totally maintenance free, save for having to get the ladders out to wipe it all down with a soapy cloth. I have fitted hedgehog gutter brushes, so when we go up to check they're OK, the S&F gets wiped down then. They come up as good as new. So pleased with the result that we had the canopy over our side entrance door done when that was erected as well.
House is a 2 storey 3 bed detached on a barratt estate, roof is high pitched on both sides and on one side a garage is attached so the soffits on that wrap around the front to a bay windows and again down the side and half way around the back so there is quite a bit of materials needed, also space isn't great on both sides (typical barratt estate ) so that's why I think it will need scaffolding. I've had a better look and the wood isn't to bad so might get away with a bit of tlc and paint..... Anyone know a painter / decorator that could do a job?
I can understand the appeal. They look really nice when they're new or if they're kept clean as you do (though not everybody does). We're in an estate where as soon as somebody has something done, everyone else follows. So now we're in a minority with our original wood. We'll probably be the last ones to have it done, I reckon. Unless the painting cost has gone up a lot since last time
