I voted remain and i'm still to this day very proud to be from Barnsley. It helps that i take each person by their own merits and i don't group them all together and make casting accusations like "they sold this country down the river"

I suppose the sweet irony is the intolerance you're putting on display here is the same that some remainers like to accuse people who voted leave of showing regularly.

edit: Just checked and saw Sheffield voted to leave as well so you're either thick as **** or trolling, either way no point discussing it further with you.

Give over . Immigration has nothing to do with " diversity" , it's to do with birth rates falling through the roof over the last fourty years .

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...y-fertility-health-lancet-study-a8624961.html

Go check Germany out . Average age of 46 with birth rates of circa 1.2 . They ve no option but to use non EU immigration to fill the gaps what with 5 million ready for retirement in the next 5 years . The fact that it will be sold as diversity is a mute point .

By a small margin and that would only be swayed by places like Shiregreen, Parsons Cross and Gleadless Valley which are very much like areas in your average Northern Towns. The real people of Sheffield voted Remain and it’s reflected in the much better numbers all round.

Whether it was a primary motive for our government or not to bring these people in, the benefits are there for us to see. Diversity is our strength and we need a lot more diversity round here.

sheffield has its fair share of problems with immigration and not everywhere is wonderful and progressive

    https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/23361...-european-immigrants-have-settled-since-2012/

sheffield also voted to leave,so theres not much point in you living there, maybe you should flit down south as you'll have more success in finding a pro eu area

Come to Leeds, we voted Remain and I love it here. (I wanted to post something derogatory about the football team but they’re doing rather well at the moment unfortunately!)

Not read back to check, so apologies if this has already been mentioned, but what % of the electorate in Barnsley voted in the Referendum?

I might just do that actually. Leeds seems like a really great place with tolerant, open minded people. Much unlike their football team I imagine but nowhere is perfect!

And what are your feelings for the host country ? Let's use Poland as an example ...... They go to the trouble of giving birth , educating and investing in their young ; only for them to emigrate at the first opportunity . Doesn't seem very fair to me ( one of the gripes of the VISIGRAD group ) . Seems to me rich countries taking advantage of poorer countries to paper over the cracks .

    Sheffield...

    City of sanctuary.

The wicker, spiral hill, firvale amongst other areas are a melting pot of racial tensions and running battles to control the drugs turf.

The Asians and the Roma are constantly at it.

One of the biggest suppliers of drugs in Barnsley is a Somali gang.

In Barnsley there’s been multiple raids for tobacco smuggling, modern slavery, people trafficking all linked to Albanian and Eastern Eu crime syndicates.

We’ve enough home grown ***** without importing it. Regardless of its guise.

Yeah I’m going to bow out of the discussion, I got a bit too heated and I apologise. It’s just an emotive subject and I hate that the town I grew up in is seen as some hateful little dump in the North of England. Sadly the referendum results didn’t do anything to dispel that notion. Anyway I’ll bow out for now, these things aren’t healthy for my old ticker tha knows.

The treaties around this are quite vague, I think I'm correct in saying Britain can pick and choose whether to participate or not, and as formation of a formal Army needs a unanimous vote we have the same veto as any other member state.
The problem is there's a huge grey area around the type and strength of forces, and circumstances and options around their use.

Both Lidington and Gove have just been on the news and kicked the rumours into touch.

rich countries are indeed taking advantage of poorer countries and this was the main reason behind the free movement of people, I spoke to arthur scargil nearly 30 years ago on the subject of the eu and the free movement of people and he was adamant that it was only for the benefits of capitalism and cheaper employment costs, tony benn was also of the same opinion

The irony is evident , that the remainer thinks he's fighting nationalism but is in turn creating nationalism in countries being asset stripped of their young via mass immigration .
