Doubt it. By the time nationalism is strong enough to become a threat the demographics will have tipped so much against them that they will be insignificant. The 2021 census will shock a lot of people I think. When the demographic numbers come in and people realise we live in one of the most tolerant and crime free societies this country has ever witnessed, the stomach for hate will well and truly be snuffed out. Hope not hate will prevail.
i've tried to get that point across on here many times, nationalism and far right politics are on the up,big time and the eu and its policies are thee driving force behind it. i've tried to reason this point but always end up with the usual fascist clap trap, our country was split practically down the middle and i'd hazard a guess that if other countries were given a similar vote then they would be identical to us,ie,split. this is a direct consequence of eu policies and many peoples aversion to them. i fear that nationalism will continue to rise and its only a matter of time before they are elected somewhere in europe the irony is also evident in the likes of donald tusk,,'theres a special place in hell for brexiteers' he was quick to then remind us he meant politicians, i personally do not believe him,he meant every single one of us who voted leave.. had these words been uttered in the context of remain politicians/voters then without doubt the would have been branded nationalists or fascist.
i think you are wrong here mr trader, the nationalists are gaining big time, maybe not here but certainly in europe,, having said this i do think if the referendum vote is ignored then nationalism will rise here also you also seem to think that changing demographics . ie, the numbers of immigrants out numbering indigenous is a good thing and hope not hate will prevail, i really do doubt this is the way the generate tolerance as different immigrant groups are also warring with each other, this hate thing is not restricted to 'indigenous whites' btw if you think we live or are going to live in crime free societies then you really do need to keep off that pop lol
Honestly it’s just fearmongering, I lived in Eastwood for a couple of years and things were fine. My neighbours were Asian on both sides and they were real salt of the earth folks. If anything it was the white folk opposite that let the place down, growing cannabis and breeding all manner of foul beasts. You should definitely try living in a neighbourhood that’s a little different to your own, you’ll see we are all just the same really.
How old are you? That is a ridiculously naive over simplistic, idealistic statement. What you have described in not what we are referring to re the current situation of illegal mass migration. Your definition of mass migration over time, legal, controlled and manageable is, as you say beneficial. However,..... Tell me how you would propose to resolve this situation.. You live in a small town with 25% unemployment. One weekend hundreds/thousands of people arrive. They have no documentation, no financial means of support, only have the clothes they are wearing, no relatives in the country and no where to go. Most cannot speak the local language. Some have small children with them. Next weekend the same happens, and the weekend after that and the weekend after that. After housing them in hotels BB and giving them subsistence, a major natural disaster strikes displacing tens of thousands of indigenous population and destroying homes and businesses. The hotels are now full of (illegal) migrants so the indigenous displaced families now have to be sheltered in tents whilst emergency wooden chalets are erected for shelter. This is exactly what has happened in Italy and the reaction for the most part of most has been great towards the migrants and supportive. Obviously though, as time has gone on and promised assistance from the EU -money and a relocation program throughout Europe has failed to materialise as well as post disaster funding has not been much in evidence resentment is growing. We then have loads of people in places like the UK who haven't a clue going on about how racist Italians are and how an extreme right wing party is stirring up hatred. So again, I ask you .. what is your solution?
57 pal, I’m staunch labour like my father and his father before him. The solution is a borderless world where people can come and go as they please and all sense of ownership is done away with. We won’t move on as a species until then,
Well done Marlon, I said your opinion was laughable... you need to educate yourself with something other than the socialist worker... People today don’t have the same principles they did 10 years ago. So to think they did 100 years ago, is at best naive.
for what its worth i do not live in the ne for what its worth i dont live in the same neighbourhood i was raised in. if you knew me, as some on here do, you'll realise that my friends are literally a league of nations, , europeans from all over the shop as well as god know how many asians, whether that be pakistanis, indiians, sri lankans... i've even got a family of iraqi kurds on my friends list, these are all people i've either worked with ( ex miner) or met thru being in the business i'm in (shop keeper/convenience store owner). they are people i class as friends,i've been on holidays with some, eat out with some etc my comments on the effects of mass uncontrolled immigration are not because i'm some racist knuckle dragging fascist bigot, they are based on my own experiences and those of people i know. for example, a good friend of mine is a very high ranking officer in SYP, and by that i mean he hasnt far to go and he'd be cheif constable, its him thats told me what goes off in page hall and firth park (plus some of the other areas you mentioned previously),the problems they encounter as coppers have increased dramatically over the last 15 years and its rival immigrant gangs that are causing most trouble, when i posted those links you said were lies i deliberately used the guardian as well as the sun so the right wing press insults couldnt start. having opinions on immigration does not mean you cant have friends who are immigrants much in the same way as it does not mean you are racist.
You havnt got a fekin clue, your the one that needs educating how’s about putting some evidence up instead of trying to belittle . Nah thought not .
Btw, I didn’t disrespect your granddad, I put forward a view different to you and was called a *****.
a borderless world is a utopia. even without capitalism and countries wanting world dominance there are way too many differences within the human race, whether that is this country not wanting immigrants or african tribes fighting one another get yourself to afghanistan and go and walk around some tribal villages , see how long you last
it probably wont shenk, because its too late, open door uncontrolled immigration should never.ever been allowed to happen,no matter how much the capitalists used it to their advantage
That's me told ha ha. While you've overcooked the ridicule schtick here, actually I agree with you to an extent re the article, as while I suspect it was written with tongue slightly in cheek at times, the sillier stuff in there could be seen to obscure the important points around things like sovereignty/laws, money, borders, trade, further subsumption into a doomed federal project etc, all of which are I suspect typical reasons most people voted to leave. Entirely my fault, a lazy bit of late night googling looking for the first article summarising basic leave arguments from a potentially credible source. Fortunately, as the stay/go decision was made three years ago, and the remain arguments were duly rejected, there's no need to relive that debate.
To be fair to you Marlon, if you were a regular reader of the Socialist Worker you'd probably be a Leaver....that is if you follow the editorial line.
I used to read the socialist worker years ago along with the militant and morning star. I think the poster was trying to discredit me. (Again) just shows his understanding . I know the far left are for leaving I have had conversations with tony benn many moons ago on the subject . My opinion changed gradually but more so because of what the Torys did with Austerity when they got power and my faith in the two party system waned after new labour did nothing for the north other than reinforce dependency on benefits and then Camereon just sliced them with no safety net resulting in the mass homeless were seeing now . At least the EU put in place certain thing to help the working class which the tory’s would never have adhered to on their own. I also know a lot of people who have benefitted from fre movement to warmer climes . We tried to umbrella a lot of these groups socialist worker etc int the miners campaign group but no chance .
