It wasn’t in relation to EU but the posters wanting more diversity. I just pointed out that diversity isn’t as brilliant as the powers that be seem to make out.
Kind of is though, drawing knowledge from pool of minds from a range of backgrounds generally yields better results.
had we been in the eurozone then it would have been europe that imposed our austerity, the eu met after the banking crisis and agreed an austerity package.Britain went along with europe but our own government had to introduce austerity as we were not in the euro zone. the recession hit and they were faced with invest their way out of the crisis and create jobs and hopefully wealth or austerity, the eu parliament and commissioners chose austerity pal
We can't live in the past like when Britain had the greatest Empire, but we can learn from history. Particularly what happened in Germany from Autumn 1932 to the spring of 1933. Paul von Hindenberg had presided over a series of minority and coilition governments since the depression of 1929 and with unemployment at 30% things were getting worse. Hindenberg appointed Brunning (who headed up the liberals) as Chancellor. He failed to halt the economic decline, though he did ban the SA the Nazi paramilitaries, nevertheless he was sacked and replaced by Von Papen (a centrist). Von Papen got Hindenberg to dissolve the Reichstag (parliament) and promptly lifted the ban on Hitler's SA. That signalled the end of the Weimar Republic. In the 1932 July election the Nazi party with 37% of the vote got 230 seats and the other parties with 63%got 378 seats. This lead to the November election in which the Nazi party lost ground gaining 33% of the vote and only 196 seats. The Nazi party was lead by Gregor Strasser who Hitler ousted and then convinced Von Papen to convince Hindenberg for Hitler to become chancellor, by an almost bloodless coup. Hindenberg who by now was suffering dementia gave Hitler the 'gig' in January 1933. In March 1933 Hitler past 'The Enabling Act' which empowered the Hitler Cabinet to make and pass laws without the consent of the legislature. Hitler called his new gang "The Reich Cabinet of National Salvation". As Chancellor this made him 'Top Dog', and that is how to make a right wing dictator from a minority standpoint and something we all have to look forward to, if we're not careful.
and neither is there substance that diversity is good either. swings and roundabouts marlon, good and bad, for and against.. its just opinions mate
But EU regs have always been set to stop that...our governments are the ones that haven't implemented them.
The EU imposed Austerity on the countries that were living massively beyond their means . Greece had been spending way way above what the gdp was . It should have been reined in years ago but they didn’t EU accepted the book keeping Greece etc were showing them which they should have checked and flagged up long ago . The EU asked Greece to rein it in and they couldn’t get the tax off their richest as they’d left the country or banked it abroad and rather than take them on they went to the ordinary population . It wasn’t a case of the EU invoking austerity it was Greece’s decision.
Mass immigration has done more harm than good in my opinion, crowded roads, schools, nhs, welfare, housing shortages, and of course the dream for those who want to keep wages down a huge influx of cheap eastern european labour who’ll work for less than we will whilst making their wages up by claiming frim the welfare state. The result isnt racism on the part if the people of Barnsley, its first hand experience of longer waiting lists, poorer wages and job security, fewer school places for their kids etc etc. Its not racist to want to control immigration, the haves on both sides of the house have perpetuated that particular myth to keep the cheap labour flowing in. Patriotism isnt racism either. I’m not ashamed to be English or to have voted out. I do not wish for my country to be integrated into a federal states of europe. And nor do the majority of my countrymen.
Lol, and you call yourself a party member... exactly why the Labour Party are still behind. Take a look at yourself!
Name those things that the EU has done for you ? The socialist benefits of living in the UK have come from parliament , not the EU .
Many moons ago I used to knock around with several SWP members, but over a period I began to realise that the ones I knew were little more than an exclusive thinking club most of whom actually had more middle class ambitions for themselves ( probably without realising it). The last straw for me was when I had a row with one of the Cttee over free coal for retired ex miners... his point being that it should be stopped unless everyone got it....he obviously hadn't got a clue over how hard and dangerous it was in the pits. I tried to explain that is was one of the few benefits left for my grandad who had pneumoconiosis from his 40 odd years in the pit....it didn't cut much ice. As to Tony Benn's views on the EU, in 1975 I disbelieved his opinions as scaremongering and followed the establishment line...when all this brexit issue blew up, I revisited his speeches and writings and I have to say he was right all along, and to me it's as relevant today.
and how many other eu countries have put a stop to uncontrolled immigration? non is my guess the capitalists club needs cheap labour therefore the capitalists call the shots
That is only because they hate the white man for what we have done to their countries. Had we not dropped bombs on them and destabilised their regions then we would be welcomed with open arms like all of humanity. It’s no utopia mate, it’s coming . There will be no white man in the future, we will all be the same colour and there will be no racism to hold us back anymore. Unfortunately I won’t be alive to see that as I will probably only live another 2 or 3 years.
So that will change then ? Nothing to do with the EU just the people that run things. It will get worse if we leave as there will be less restraint on businesses .
you are wrong pal, you summarisation is way too simplistic https://www.redpepper.org.uk/the-trouble-with-being-both-anti-austerity-and-pro-eu/
Yeah I found that also , walk past em in town . These groups have a history of betrayal going back to the Internationalof brigade who were sold out by Stalin . The ideology is ok and workable till it gets put into practice then everyone’s got their ideas it’s putting it into practice. There’s a classic film by Ken Loach called land and freedom where left leaning people from England went to fight Franco and joined different groups and down the line were fighting each other .crazy
well for starters we can stop open door uncontrolled immigration and allow only suitable people in , you know like australia, thats all most of us want
