D.T,this copyright directive is aimed more at stifling free speech than it is protecting copyrights,from what i've read you will not even able to share news items on social media , the establishment,(whether the eu or our own),dont like people rallying round on social media to oppose them ,

I'm firmly of the opinion that the effects of social media were not anticipated by the establishment, the fact that they cannot control it like they do the media really makes their blood boil

 

House of Lords can only delay bills being passed into Law as a result of the Parliament Acts 1911 & 1949

 

So they can’t send these bills back to parliament if they are considered against the convened law? These pesky unelected lords.

 

Can you advise which articles of the copyright directive stifle free speech please?

apparently there have been marches,demonstrations and a petition thats received 5 million signatures in opposition to the directive

I read an online article about 12 months ago and their concern was it will outlaw people posting links to news articles,which in turn will suppress peoples ability to share information and gather momentum in any causes they are involved in, what they were basically saying was that the eu were stifling peoples ability to rally against them(eu). You may not agree.

I took that into account when I voted to leave, some things I like about the EU, something's I don't...but on balance the things I like were worth trading for sovereignty and political freedom....its all down to your priorities.

 

i honestly dont think any rights would be lost pomp,only hard liners in the tories would be brave enough to consider it and then they'd have to get past the labour party,the lib dems and dup plus much of their own party,i can see how it would happen.

That and the fact that british workers enjoy more working benefits than the EU minimums require anyway.Many predicted the tories would reduce british entitlement to the same levels as the eu requires and it never happened,you must remember that away from the strong labour areas many working class vote conservative and the tories cant really afford to alienate them

anti eu sentiments are not restricted to this country

 

They passed Austerity through all those barriers you mention dek so eroding workers rights if a strong Tory govt were in power aided by their whips would be no problem for them.

British workers might have more rights than the EU minimum, but enjoy less rights than workers in France and Germany.
