Barring a 31 point GD turnaround by Peterborough?

Uncharacteristically negative from you I though,t looking at the thread title, until I realised you probably omitted the words "at the very least" ;)

Well yes I was kinda implying that Mr Tekky! It will be good to have banked that before March is out - then onwards towards Automatic!

(And the flat starts today! )

    Absolutely no way Orsen.

It will take 1 day turnaround, we win Sunderland lose and its game over.

If we win today thats eight points Sunderland have to find. Granted they have the games in hand to get nine points. It's the psychological aspect that makes it difficult. They know they cant slip up. Daft thing a draw puts us 6 points clear which means Sunderland still need two wins and a draw to overhaul us.

My mate once said wish in one hand and **** in over and see which fills up first. Rather have points on board.

Draw today and I won't be slashing my wrists as BBS goes into meltdown.

I think if we win today it puts massive pressure on Sunderland. Not only do they know they have to win all their games in hand. They also have a fixture pile up to deal with.

If we win today the pressure on Sunderland will be ramped right up. Yes, they can overhaul us but if they do then will surely deserve to go up because it will have been no easy feat. The advantage will be very much with us.

Lots of Sunderland fans think the same way - i.e. if we win today they won't pull it back. They were devastated last week after our last minute smash and grab. They thought it was 'season defining'.

Personally, I am not convinced Sunderland will even finish 3rd. I think Portsmouth will overhaul them.

I’m the same, we win today I think the table will look the same for the rest of the season, that’s including Pompey staying in 3rd.

Sunderland’s game on Wednesday is huge, miles bigger than the game they’ve got tomorrow. They’re going to put a lot into tomorrow too so I’m hoping they’re gonna struggle with fatigue and Accrington turn em over.

I wouldn't fancy their run in both in terms of teams to play and games every few days for last few weeks of season

I wish I had all your optimism. I still think we'll do it, but it won't be easy shaking off Sunderland. Games every few days are a cakewalk with a bit of momentum behind you, which they could kickstart tomorrow.

    Disagree
The win last week in the last minute has given us a bit of lee way imo.
If we had drawn last week any result bar a win today would have been confidence sapping and would have had a detrimental effect on morale.
If we don’t win today we could still pick ourselves up and go on another unbeaten run but had we drawn last week and drawn or list today it would have been a huge task and hoping other teams fall .

It’s the performances that worry me,
We’ve chugged along for the last few games but somehow still managed to accrue points. Either we’ll keep on grinding results out and get second spot or we’ll collapse entirely, crashing out of the play-off semi’s to our annoying little neighbours most probably.

That’s what I think will happen, either one of those.

You know what l mean, l'm not talking mathematically, if an 8 point gap opens up they won't get that back with the games remaining. They aren't going to win every game.

agreed, but we too are not invincible. The pressure is all on Sunderland though.

Agree, although I'm not optimistic. Watching the last few games we look like a marathon runner whose run the first 21 miles pretty quick but whose legs are starting to tighten up and others are starting to sniff an opportunity. Plenty of twists and turns yet. Portsmouth might surprise us all.
