The defence as a whole has to take the blame imo . Switched off completely for the free kick as soon as ref gave it one of our players should have made sure they couldn’t take it from where he did instead of complaining to ref and also someone should have been over that side straight away . You can say they’re naive young lads and all that but they’ve had a season to wise up at least a little bit to stop that first goal imo. Second goal completely unmarked every opposition player had time on the ballin our last third leading up to the goal . Chance upon chance wasted but we should still have won that game scoring two goals. I hope we’re not a team of bottlers it remains to be seen but 7 games to go we shouldn’t be panicking we should be making teams fear us like Luton are , teams are not afraid to have a go st us in case they lose heavily like they are against Luton that needs to change he. All in all yes we missed a load of chances but my biggest complaint is losing the ball time after time in crucial areas and teams are trying to pick us off Walsall almost did it last week Coventry did us and I think teams game plans have been geared to us Losing the ball and them picking us off , thankfully it’s gone against most teams this season and we’ve put them to bed but at the buisness end Of our season we’re struggling.
Not going to pull the lad Williams to pieces but someone at the club needs to address the problem... Playing with 10 men at times 9 if you count hedges then again listening to others brown and Thiam haven't contributed much... If thats the case we've played Coventry with 7 men... Lol good result then .. Managing a draw with 7 men.... Seriously the problem need addressing
They targeted him today and he little help from the hapless hedges. Both goals were his fault ultimatley but the rest of the team didnt help either. The second one started because of Cavares terrible pass/clearance which went into Mark Robins hands who quickly threw it to their player and it went t**s up from there.
I know what your saying Troff but my main point is that others did not take the responsibility of stopping the plays that both goals stemmed from. If they’d done their jobs we would not be blaming anyone.
Fryers must wonder what he has to do to get a game with Pinnilos out. Played well at Donny and since disappeared again.
I understand your point regarding someone should have stopped them taking the fee kick but they did take it 20yards away from where it should have been so I’m not sure we knew it had been taken? Poor refereeing.
But they should have been marked whether free kick was taken in wrong place or not . As soon as free kick is blown for we should be ready instead of complaining to ref , we switched off to complain and it cost us .
The free kick placement is a bit of a red herring. Davies needed to come for it, and whoever was near their striker needed to stop the shot. Or stop him even shooting.
Yeah hedges didn't do much apart from a assist same with thiam. Worst performers for me were Williams, brown, mcgheen and green
Both poor goals to concede, but not one root cause for either. 1st one was a trip on Mowatt before he gave them thier free kick, which he allowed them to take miles away from where the incident occurred and then their guy given far too much time in the box to bring it down and shoot. Second one we give the ball away, then manage to kick the ball out but the lad picks the bull up whilst running down the line and throws it in a good 10 yards further down while we are all stood watching, then we get a chance to defend the call in the box that we do miserably and next thing it’s in the back of the net. I actually enjoyed the game though today, it was end to end and either team could have won. Thought Mowatt was excellent in the first half, but was equally as poor in the 2nd. Mcgheean seemed off it. I thought Thiam did well first half and ok second actually too. We really ought to have taken advantage of our dominance immediately after we scored both goals, but not going more than 1 goal up has cost us. The shooting from our midfield was abysmal. Do I think a point was enough today? Dunno I couldn’t see Sunderland getting 9 from 9, but 6 or 7, probably. It’s going to be tight.
Reminds me of George Smith. Gets a lot of praise for ‘getting stuck in’, but really isn’t good enough. Not yet anyway.
Got to agree, he’s not bad going forward, but hes very poor defensively, left back poor at defending, somethings got to give.
Williams isn't good enough. Still young, so could improve. But aside from willingness, I'm not sure what else he offers at present.
He was targeted all game. Robins did his homework on us that's for sure. Coventry tried getting the ball down their right any chance they got.
You're a blondeist. I bet you think McGeehan's footballing brain is slow as sludge. And Davies is tosh at crosses.
Tbh I think Williams was doing his best but agree that his contribution, for me, is a concern. I said on here a few weeks ago that I felt we are a much more solid and resilient unit and certainly more creative when Pinillos is available. Williams is still learning but we need Pinillis back urgently.
Left exposed by midfield second half often having two Coventry players up against him . The headline of the post is a disgrace
