Going on all the top four's form in the pervious number of game.. and the number they have left. i.e Luton and Barnsley last 6, Pompeys last seven. Sunderland's last nine. If you take all their past/current form, This is how the remainder of the season would pan out

I think its as close a forecast as up can actually get with no prejudice... ether for or against. And any team would have to ether pick up significantly or drop off... Which can happen, but normally what you get in the next few games, is what you've had in the last few
Any way here we have it

Luton... now 86, past form in remaining 6 games =14 more points.... Total 100

Barnsley... now 79, past form in remaining 6 games = 12 more points... Total 91

Pompey.. now 74, past form in remaining 7 games = 14 more points.. Total 88

Sunderland.. now 73, past form in remaining games = 14 more points... Total 87..

Just a bit of fun but impartial .... i'd bet the reality at the EoS won't be too far from this.

So if all the top four's clubs form stays as it is... we will finish second..

The big game is obviously Sunderland v Pompey in the league. A draw could kill both teams with a bit of luck

These stats don't lie Pompey, but they also aren't set in stone... teams normally go on as they have been doing. If that happens then we'll be fine. The Blackpool game should take us up cos Pompey wold have to win about 12 nil on the last day.. (as goal;s stand now)

I can’t see Sunderland dropping 13 points in 9 games. I think they might draw 3 maybe 4 games, so getting them 19 or 21 points.

We need 5 wins to give ourselves a chance

Well that has been and is their form.. Don't be building em up into more than they actually are. They've drawn a lot of games, and will have to play Saturday- Tuesday -Saturday..
Which the past form doesn't even take into account

Why do you think Sunderland will now hit a run of form that has eluded them so far this season ?

Well Sunderlands last 9 are 4 wins and 5 draws = 17 points so their recent form shows them getting to 90 our last 6 games have yielded 3 wins and 3 draws =12 points getting us to 91 points. It’s likely to be close and if either team has a good or bad run it’s going to be crucial I’ll be happy if it’s in our own hands going into the game at Bristol I would want to be relying on Southend and Accrington to do us favours

It can't have eluded them too much this season, otherwise they wouldn't be in a position where they overtake us if they win their games in hand.

That might be more realistic (I'm naturally more pessimistic). They have 1point shy of 2points per game over the season, and 12 from their last 6, so 18 from their last 9 isn't exactly an exaggeration of their form. That would be 5 wins and 4 draws. Can't rule out them turning one of those draws into an extra win, that's why I think we need to win 5.

I would be very surprised if we dont go up if we win 4 of the last 6 especially if we draw at least one if not 2 of the remaining ones Im certain if we win 5 we will go up though even then I dont think we will catch Luton

You're probably right, like I say, my natural pessimism takes over at times like this... Too many times I've let the hope kill me, like thinking we might make the FA Cup final in 08, or thinking we'd beat Ipswich when 3-0 up after 85 mins that time in the mid 90s...

You'll be amazed to hear, that I agree that we won't catch Luton. Just hope we can do our bit in the next 6 games, starting with a win on Saturday. Won't be easy, as Burton had hit some form before there enforced break this week.

What concerns me is our last few games we have had at least a couple if not three players under perform. Sunderland yesterday looked strong the 90 minutes i saw.

You ought to go on the Sunderland forum according to them there isn't a player in there squad fit to wear the shirt and the manager is clueless.

This is usual behaviour from a number of our posters, every forum has them.

I'm concerned that Portsmouth have beaten us twice now and have a clear psychological advantage. I wouldn't want to meet them in the play offs.

It seems a little over the top though don't you think. It makes this board seem quite moderate.

It's more than a little over the top, it's crazy. Yep it does make this board moderate although there are a few characters on here as well
