Good to see and I wish him well.

Looks like he’s finally giving Stevie Mallan a game too.

But own up - who was saying he was a CR@P manager only a few short weeks ago.

Please sign your name below if that was or still is your view.

May as well just give him manager of the year already huh?

He’s got a long way to go to build some reputation back up in my opinion.

He’s done a decent job there so far. Good luck to the fella.
I was thinking of going along to Easter Road to see a game (I work in Edinburgh). Not been for a while - might see if my 7 year old daughter wants to come along.

Further proof (not that it was needed) that not doing well at Leeds has no bearing on how good a manager is

    Rubbish.
Working with hands tied... And by the looks nothing has changed for Stendle..
Keeping our better players or a least replacing with as good, improving our squad and not weakening it half way through the season. Would be a start..

Point taken as regards potts and bradshaw but they both wanted to leave as did winkler. But winnall,Conor and bree all wanted to go and would have all gone for nothing in the summer had we not sold them (bree we would have received compensation).
Hecky did interviews stating the club could no afford championship wages so we had to give young players a chance. He never gave pinnock or mowatt much of a chance he played mowatt out of position and then loaned him out and preferred Angus slackdonald (who he made captain) to pinnock. Speaks volumes he got over looked by scunny and Bradford and has had to go all the way up north in a mickey mouse 2 team league to rebuild his management career. Hope he does well but jesus he was far from perfect here.

These criticisms don’t make any sense.

Why wouldn’t he have made Angus captain? There were only 4 regulars from the season before, Angus, Yiadom, Davies & Hammill. Yiadom had a knackered shoulder & wanted to leave, Davies is a keeper & most don’t like a keeper as captain & Hammill is a temperamental winger who had been in & out of the side. It would’ve been a strange decision not to give Angus the armband. Were you questioning it on here at the time? Because I can’t remember anybody complaining about it. I remember a few saying they wanted Hammill as captain but no one was on here criticising Angus at the time he’d had a really good first season.

Pinnock got his chance when Angus got sent off early in the season but got injured & was unlucky as he would’ve played games as even Pearson played games at centre back for us as Jackson, Pinnock & Angus were all out together. He then got back in the team & broke his toe. He was hardly left to rot on the sidelines. Just unlucky.

Mowatt couldn’t get a game under 2 managers at Leeds, Hecky at Barnsley & couldn’t even get a regular start on loan at Oxford. Does that suggest all 4 managers didn’t have a clue or that Mowatt went through a bad spell in his career & has now turned it round. I know what makes most sense.

You & many others said that Heckingbottom’s reputation would be tarnished by the Leeds job & that he’d end up in League 2. Instead he’s got a great job at one of the biggest clubs in Scotland with a fan base far bigger than ours. It’s laughable to suggest Scunthorpe is a better job than Hibs.

Just be honest & admit you got it wrong.

You slated him for playing Potts on the wing for example but Potts has since earned a (reported) £1.5m move to Preston & is playing right wing for them whilst they’re playing well & on the verge of the play offs which would suggest its his best position.

We all get stuff wrong. I didn’t think Jacob Brown would ever make it with us but I hold my hands up I got it wrong.

Never said he was faultless, he also inherited the set of players he took up.. But the previous and the new Owners mistakes are also not beyond scrutiny and criticism.. I also understand that football is a transient business and players move on. But just to bring in players under a certain age is folly. You can still bring in, use and move on players in their mid-twenties and still make money... But the bottom line is kids come cheap..
i'd actually say with our current squad, at this time and especially with our January transfer activity we aren't equipped or planning to go up... Hoping, maybe, but planning.... nar. I do not see it, or you wouldn't sell better players than you bring in.

I did say I would have chose hammill as captain to be honest I never saw McDonald as captain material his discipline record before us wasn't great.

Mowatt went out of favour under monk Leeds then signed paublo Hernandez and he was always going to be 2nd choice. I'd have liked hecky to try get the best out of him like we are seeing now instead of playing him on the wing then shipping him out.

It didn't look great that he was a pundit when Leeds played stoke on the opening day before the game claiming he was never given long enough. And then the same 11 he had at his disposal bar 1 player play and they smash stoke 4 nil. Bielsa used mostly the same team hecky had for the 1st half of the season.

I never said the Scunthorpe job was better than hibs but hecky made a fair whack in his career playing and management he will have got a decent pay off from Leeds, and as a family man who still has a house in yorkshire I'm sure he would have rather gone down the road to Bradford or scunny than re locate to Scotland.

I criticised him more for playing moncur and mowatt on the wing because it's a position they don't have the legs for. But yeah I got it wrong with Potts I thought he was more suited centrally alot is just opinions he minght turn out to be great in Scotland I don't wish any bad on him hope he does well but he was a young manager who did make mistakes here that's how I saw it.

Hecky was a fantastic manager for Barnsley.
If we were now in a position where we had got another poor manager like Morais then there would be an absolute barrage by the fans wanting to bring Hecky back.
The reason this isn’t happening is that we have FORTUNATELY got another good manager in Stendel.

Always think it's weird when adults type daft names like that on to an internet forum or on social media. Seems the sort of thing that most people leave behind them at the age of about 9-10 years old.

Nah we upgraded on Bradshaw when we replaced him with woodrow so the point doesn’t stand for that player. Maybe Potts and even at a push Moncur but not Bradshaw and definitely not Isgrove.

Tell you what, it was this news today thats made me realise any anger or resentment I have towards Heckingbottom has disappeared. I suppose it says more about me as a person that it’s taken this long but none of us are perfect.

    Goodbye and good luck Paul.
